+Mario ROSSI you obviously don't know the piece very well, or didn't listen until the very end when the alto flute has his solo. Looks like he was struggling with the instrument to make it speak consistently without breaking tone or register and intonation was a little off. But that what tends to happens when you don't regularly play the bigger flutes.

To be honest, the alto flutist do seem to have some problem in keeping the notes... he also nods with his head, not very satisfied, at the end of his part...

@@flutemage2007 The alto flutist makes the instrument sound dead. I have no problem going from Concert flute to either alto, bass or contrabass flute. Even changing to any of the afformentioned flutes from saxophone.

Sembra davvero incredibile la miopia di Gazzelloni nel non aver affrontato le splendide creazioni per flauto di Frederick Kuhlau. Davvero inconcepibile questa lacuna, che non fa onore a uno strumentista come lui, che avrebbe potuto dare un enorme contributo alla conoscenza di quel grande musicista.

It sounds to me like the principal flutist here keeps playing inaccurate rhythms and isn't making a very beautiful sounds

The quality of recording is poor. I can ensure that Gazzelloni had a really beautiful sound. In my channel you will find several videos by him.

Gazzelloni - the best. The alto flutist makes the instrument sound lifeless - also no tone quality. Please check out my composition and playing of ' Birth of a Forest ' and see what you think of it. ( On Y.tube) Recorded after only a few months of having had part time tuition at a London Music College.

Fab Flutes I agree. This was posted as a historical documentation of Gazzelloni and Rai flute section orchestral playing. Not all things posted here are selected for being outstanding performances. I like this kind of documentaristic use I occasionaly give to this channel 🙂
