Loved this tutorial, thank you!! After making my first one, I noticed that I was still getting quite a bit of heat through the cover. So I made a second one with two layers of batting and I’m able to leave the cover on my skillet the entire time I cook without it getting hot!!

Glad it was helpful! I have learned that when I purchase Insulbright, or Pellon interfacings, they are not all the same with the thickness or the glues so it doesn't surprise me that your material wasn't thick enough. You will learn, that where you purchase your materials you may like one location better for the quality. Happy hunting and happy sewing! : )

No criticism of your great tutorial, just a quick suggestion to make sewing easier. If you start sewing your seam from the thicker fabric end rather than the lining end, it is much easier to sew over the center seam as yiu are sewing off the "fat" end rather than trying to sew up on to it.

Thank you so very much for this video it is the first one I have seen from you. I bought a regular sewing machine after the virus and started making face masks and I'm just now getting myself too so I really appreciated your step-by-step instructions instruction and I look forward to watching many more videos. I have we located now because during the virus there was a hurricane LOL and I'm finally settled enough to break out the sewing machine so excited

Take your time - practice often and replay, replay, replay a video until you have figured things out!! Ain't no shame in that!!

You bet! Glad you saw it. It really is a quick project but you can use it for other things, besides the pan handle! Remember, you can alter the size and add on to the length if you need to.... depending on the size of your pan. 5 in. wide is a good width though... Let me know if you have questions. : )

What would measurements be for a curling iron? To hold the whole iron.
@SewnByNikki
@SewnByNikki 2 жыл бұрын
No sure about yours. There are many different types of curling iron. I would measure the height and width of yours and add on about 2-3" for the seams and diameter of the curling iron.

When I just use insulbright, the heat comes through if i don’t use batting
@SewnByNikki
@SewnByNikki 7 ай бұрын
Depends on what Insulbright your store sells. Like fusible fleece, it comes in different thicknesses. Regular fabric, same print, can also be purchased at 2 different stores and depending on what "run" of the fabric off the machine the retailer purchased, the fabric can be very thin/see through, or thicker (for better quality). Use cotton batting to offset the cost of the material since you know now about the quality of the Insulbright. That would be helpful.

Do you use 1 or 2 layers of unsulbright?
@SewnByNikki

I use 1 which has proven to be good. Use two if you would like. Just reduce size in your interface so it reduces bulk.

do you know what the maximum teperature this will work with?
@SewnByNikki

It is heat resistant up to 400 degrees. I would do some research on what it is you are looking to use it for - if not a holder.

@SewnByNikki

That would totally work for both - IF they are using insulbrite. If they are using felt, just as an inside lining, it would not be good for the pan handle. But... perfect sizing for a few things.....! : )
