You nailed the look. I got a more feminine tennis shoe from Guess. Bought them in white and olive green. There is a small gold accent on the base of the laces and a tiny gold accent on the back. The body is a quilted pattern. Love them!

I usually steer clear of sew alongs on independent patterns because they usually like to support their patterns themselves. However, it was a pretty simple construction, even if it looks harder!

Whitney, I love watching your channel.you have the background knowledge,I think, to help me with my problem. How do I sew 5” appliqué lace on the hem of my culotte slip I made. Even with my even feed foot my machine won’t sew without bunching. Oh my that red dress is gorgeous.

Are you using a zig zag stitch to stitch the lace? I like to use a 1 width and 2 length. Overlap the lace by a good inch or so into the hem of the slip and zig zag around the top of the appliqué. The zig zag should almost completely disappear. Once you’ve sewn it on, go back with appliqué or duck bill scissors, if you have them (if not, just go slowly with small sharp scissors) and trim the slip close to the zig zag in the back. Does this make sense?

TomKat Stitchery thank you so much. I wish I hadn’t bought such wide lace. The appliqué starts about 4 inches down the toulle. Should I cut off this top part and just sew on the appliqué? By cutting this part off I can then follow your instructions. Does that sound right.
