(Not copyrighted🤔 from franks carpets (I love carpets me!)😂😬 lol I can only imagine customers face when gravity pulled soil pipe thru lower toilet 🙊 I work as telehandler operator on building site and have free time sometims so assist in soil stack pressure tests and forgot to pull a bung out 1 time from dual run and simulated this problem with a bath release (needless to say the bath and stack held well until I realised it all released to main hallway via ground floor toilet ) (fresh water) cos some numpty (I.e ME 🤔) left 1 bung in manhole inspection chamber only happened once believe me 😬😂 lol great job joe your the man on this 1 great job pal lovely pipe burp too on good flow 👍👍 andy needs harness or working at height tickets 😂😂😂boing boing boing 😂thanks for your time guys be safe and see you👍👋

All those pipes on the outside of the building much be a typical British thing, I haven’t seen it in any other country. I’m surprised it doesn’t freeze up in the winter. In the Netherlands the pipes are in the walls or on the inside of the building (hidden away).

It’s because the downstream MH is the water boards, so you can jet to it but not from it. If it was a newer property (after 2011) the water board may not have adopted the sewer line so it would then be a private contractors job still.

does it never freeze there? seeing the drains on the exterior of buildings is new to me.. here they would be frozen in a matter of an hour on cold days and everything would be blocked and broken

The water running down a soil stack is at least room temperature, it does not freeze fast enough (if a tub or shower is involved, even less so) and the downpipe runs empty within seconds. We got three such stacks in a driveway through the house, so basically they´re outside temperature, those still are the old cast pipes, may still be the first ones installed in the 1910s, so I guess they never froze. We still added some insulation, just to be sure. It can get cold over here, we had -25C a few times in the 40yrs we own the house.
