I'm a little confused. I used your tutorials to review Illustrator and got a job as an assistant designer. Whenever it came time to actually use Illustrator they said I was drawing wrong. They said you have to like use a bunch of connected shapes. I don't know what that means really. Do you?

You need to use the Pencil tool (N)
