You were on the right path with the witches hat, if you'd have cut one of the doughnut rings to the middle and sewn them inside out then reversed it, done the same with the cardboard and hand sewn the brim after it would have helped and maybe looking at a circle skirt pattern would have helped you make the hat, and if you'd left room on the doughnut cardboard shape, then you were there. It's only three things, I hope you do try it again and make your vision a reality

@@AnthonyCrammen You’re supposed to cut off the white edge and the fringe. Those keep the fabric from fraying during the manufacturing process.

Soo for the witches Hat, you need to put a layer of self stick or iron on fabric strenghtener in between the two layers, sadly i don't know what it is called in english, but is is usually a whiteish, stiff fleece of some kind. Like the batting for quilts, but thinner. You can actually sow over that! Also for the cone shape you need a rather large slice of a circle with the curve bigger than your head circumference, then it'll work out! And maybe next time, try around with scrap paper first before cutting things out of fabric, always helps me to get an idea where I have to go! The rubber ducky rules tho. Absolutely made my day better!

Hiya! Witches hats or any hat that require stiffness is quite difficult without the right tools. There is a type of stiff fabric you can fuse to the fabric to make it more stiff and I think you would have to use some form of that to make it more ridgid. Otherwise, and I know you've tried it before, wet felting is probably the easiest/most effective way to make a cool witches hat. There are plenty of tutorials for it on youtube and they look amazing! Loved the video though :)

Hi Ant! Great to see another episode of the Pinterest challenge! I think you did really well with the things that you chose to make up until that poor witches hat. The keychain looked absolutely fabulous and very classy. The little duck was just awesome 🤩 I have to admit I was a little worried you might go too far and ruin it, but you managed to stop just at the right moment and have created one funky little ducky. I really liked your incense tray, I thought it looked great. And as for your witches hat, well we live and learn darling. A sheet of thin plastic material inside the rim might have worked a little better. And probably you would need the same for the cone part of the hat. You can buy something that stiffens fabric, you iron it on, but I don’t know what it’s called. As a rule upholstery fabric is usually a little heavier than a regular cotton fabric and sometimes has a white backing to it. I guess the extra heavy weight allows it to take more wear and tear over time. Anyway, please don’t feel dejected, I think you did a great job as you always do with the Pinterest challenge. There aren’t many people I know who would try to make things with no instructions and I find it quite inspiring that you do! ❤ I’m sending you a big Aussie hug to cheer you up. Us VIOs have to stick together! ❤

yeah i agree that we need a redemption of the witch hat lol, specially since the one you referenced looked like it would link to a tutorial(judging by the pin title). Would love to see more ducks too, what a simple but really neat craft idea. Can really take it in any cool or cute direction, and go as detailed and simple as ya want and it would still look good xD. Ducks seem to be a great foundation lol. I imagine too that the original crafters also struggled this much when figuring all this out, definitely took many iterations.

Hi! First off i actually liked the resin letters. I’d buy one. The duck I agree is a giant win! The hat? Very difficult even with a pattern, but I think you could make a t-shirt with a pattern thats your size. If you can make that beauty of a tote bag, you can make a t-shirt. BUT use stretchy fabric for it. That’s a must. Lips dish? You can sand the edges and wrinkles to be smooth and even after it dries. Give that a try. Keep up the good work! Lova ya!

Ant, another great attempt at doing things other people require instructions to accomplish. I love, love, loved your cool dude of a duck, giving him that necklace was a good idea. In fact I think your duck was actually way cuter and cooler than the inspiration picture. The other items were ok but yes, that hat beat you this time. Being fair, I know how to use a sewing machine and I wouldn't have been able to make it either, even with a pattern, so I'm not surprised you struggled! I think you were brave to even try a complicated design like that.

The gifs you throw in are hilarious. The laughing hoarding woman (I like yo say I'm not a hoarder, I'm an artist, all of this 'trash' is useful 😂). And the celine dion one. My brain does that all the time, if I hear someone say "it seems to me" my brain stops listening to the person and plays "it seems to me you lived your life like a candle in the wind" candle in the wind by Elton John lol. Btw I'm audhd (autistic and adhd) and any of the struggles and things uou talk about are similar to the symptoms that I have that are related to being audhd. I'm not a dr and don't want to disgnose or insult you. But I'm 29 and have joined a lot of Facebook groups of people who have ADHD and autism, and being in those groups and hearing the things that people talk about is the first time I've ever actually felt like I belonged somewhere in my life, and I feel like it's that way for a lot of people with ADHD and or autism. So I'm not trying to insult you when I say you seem like you have ADHD, I want you to know that there is a group of us and that you can feel safe with people who have ADHD and autism. Maybe look into adhd yourself, online. ADHD and autism aren't very well studied and and doctors and psychiatrists aren't really equipped with helping people with those issues. It wasn't until 2013 that drs realized someone can have ADHD and autism at the same time. When I looked into the autism diagnosis I realized that's exactly who I am, my trex arms, my dark humor, my outside of the box thinking. There's also negative things that come with it, but having those Facebook groups I have people who literally understand and don't just dismiss people's feelings like people who aren't like me do. So if I have insulted you with what I said I am very sorry, I just want you to know that there is a whole other neurodivergent world that understands us better than the rest of the world (neurotypicals) does. And it's a safe place....most of the time. Another autistic trait is being very trusting and open with everyone. I callthat side of me 'over sharing Sharon' 😂😂😂😂. All the years of counseling I (and many other audhd people) had they were trying to fix me, trying to get rid of certain behaviors. But I've learned that those behaviors are who I am and they will never go away, we have to learn how to live with this crazy brain and live in a world that was built for 'normal' people. Again I am sorry if I have insulted you, and I'm sorry for my TED talk 😂. Also there's a connection between queer people and autism.
@AnthonyCrammen4 ай бұрын
Haha no insult taken don't worry. I wouldn't be surprised if I was somewhere on the spectrum however I'm not too fussed with getting an official diagnosis etc. I just see it as I am who I am if that makes sense. I do learn/pick things up differently and I get that other people do it their own way and may find my way weird, but it works and I prefer it lol. But yeah, just happy living in my own little world 😅😅

I'm afraid you will waste so much time, energy, and money trying to get there, that you will give up, and that makes ME sad because I love sewing so much! Will you please at least consider looking at some basic stuff on line? and you CAN NOT make t-shirts out of woven fabrics. you can only make t-shirts out of knit fabrics - which you would know if you reviewed some basic terms!
