You can actually buy weights to keep paper patterns in place but personally, I don’t like that. I do tailors tacks for pattern markings, so need everything held in place. I also like to keep the paper and fabric pattern pieces together until I sew that piece.

A great jacket 🔥 I would love to see a tutorial about interfacing - why, where and how to use it in sewing garments 🙂
@janeseemann25273 жыл бұрын
That’s a big subject! There are lots of different types of interfacings that are designed for different fabrics. If you’re really interested you could speak to the staff at your local fabric store because they are usually very knowledgeable. Or Google ‘interfacing types’ and you’ll get lots of results.

If you crimp the sleeve into the armhole instead of using an ease stitch, it helps the sleeve to not get any little pinches. A good resource book is, The Guide to Fashion Sewing by Connie Amaden Crawford.

I’m so stumped on a dress pattern right now. I’m a beginner but I feel like some patterns just don’t give all the info you need! It’s super frustrating! I’ll revisit the pattern tomorrow. Thanks for your positive attitude. It encouraged me to try again!
@senaaileigh3 жыл бұрын
Same! I need the pattern-maker there to ask questions! The instructions will be like “Sew the shorter piece to the longer piece” ... ok, like, which side am I sewing? And they don’t fit... is it ok that they don’t fit? Do I hem them after? Should I trim away the notches? HeLp!! 😂
@ArmindaHeart3 жыл бұрын
@@senaaileigh right?! My pattern told me to cut out two button plackets but didn’t even mention sewing on both, only one, or even say anything about interfacing until the instructions said attach interfaced plackets to dress. And then the darn plackets got in the way of the next step as that part wasn’t clear either! So confusing! And it included instructions for attaching the lined bodice to skirt for two other variations but not the variation I was doing. It skipped that part for my variation’s instructions 🤔 huuuuuh? Do I follow another variation’s instructions now? I was doing so well for so long, and I keep thinking this is too easy... I’m about to hit a confusing part, and I did! Grrrrr!!! Lol!

I prefer the flap pockets too. This would be so advanced for me, I don’t know if I will ever get to this level. I started making my wrap around skirt. I’m using a Kwik Sew pattern and following your tutorial and I’m pretty hopeless at it. 🤣 Hand sewing yes, I’m great at, machine sewing, not so much. 😳 Trust me, I would not even be sewing a skirt if it wasn’t for your video.

The jacket turned out so beautiful! It looks like something you can pair with many different types of outfits! I actually just bought some corduroy fabric a few weeks ago because it was such a beautiful color, and also because I saw you use it in one of your older videos (haha). I have no idea what to do with the fabric, so maybe I'll try to make a jacket out of it as well? :D Also, I got the Hazel pattern a few months ago and have made a few dresses from it, and I think that it's the perfect sun dress to wear when it's hot out! I've used quite a few of your patterns - not only the dress ones, but ones like the bucket hat, oversized collar, et cetera - and all of them have been wonderful, straightforward, and easy to use! I just bought the Hannah pattern a few days ago, and I can't wait to print it out and make cute wrap skirts out of them! I am looking forward to your future patterns! ^_^
