I’m a male too and I like making costumes/cosplay. I’ve back stitched a “double ribbon trimmed” cape from a video game by hand and Jesus I’m so glad I bought my first sewing machine. Honestly I’m gonna return this Loops&thread machine and get a Singer. Idk what do u guys think? I’ll mainly only ever use a regular running/back stitch anyways. Not gonna do anything fancy. It cost me $38 at Michaels cuz I got a 40% off Coupon. I kinda want the Singer M3400. What does anyone think?

Please keep doing what you’re doing as it helps young guys like me who have trouble learning/learning difficulties. I needed a foolproof beginner to sewing video so I can start using a sewing machine. I made a blanket years ago but it was horrible looking but everyone wanted to use it because I doubled the bunting and it was warm as you could get. Now I can start really learning so I can teach my adult daughter so she can sew as well. Thank you Sir for your channel

I've been searching for a tutorial video on how to use my sewing machine and I have to agree with previous comments, this is the best tutorial video out there! Thank you for actually going through each little step (no matter how small or unimportant it may be) and actually showing us with the camera closed in (like when you zoomed in to show us how to insert the bobbin case correctly or thread the needle). These things make a huge difference to those who have no idea what they're doing and I truly appreciated watching this.

I'm just looking at the instructions (I'm a beginner) for the Singer 4432. Just letting you know, (according to MY instructions in the Singer manual, that are VERY hard to follow)... After the thread leaves the main spool/when you are trying to fill your bobbin, it wraps DIFFERENTLY around that first silver thing(before it heads back to your bobbin.) Different than what Tock shows here. So I guess we have to Look at our OWN manual. I don't know why Singer doesn't just hire this guy TOCK to make videos for them. I can SEE and UNDERSTAND Tock's videos, but the drawings in the Singer manual is really difficult to follow... I'm guessing that each machine wraps the thread it's own way. C'MON Singer! Get this guy to make your videos!!! res.cloudinary.com/singer-sewing/image/upload/v1572777241/Singer-Website-Library/Manuals/Products_manuals/SINGER_4423_Sewing_Machine_bmigod.pdf

I was particularly pleased with the cartoon showing how the upper thread collects the lower bobbin thread. This helped me to understand why a sewing machine doesn't need two needles to sew with two threads. The explanation of this was then developed when at the close of your presentation you cut the two threads off of the garment sewed and clearly displayed them as separate though lying side by side. This was excellent teaching. Furthermore, you begin by explaining that this is the machine "I" learned on. So I'm gonna teach you on this machine. This is such a warm way of saying "while every machine has it's own way of doing things - but you'll know how to make the adjustment once you understand the principle of the thing". This too is great teaching. You're expressing confidence in the ability and intelligence of your students. You're building us up rather than talking down to us. I have only taken one private lesson thus far. Thank you so much for your careful instruction. David Lixenberg NB: I used successive screenshots to stop the shuttle hook in it's path, nonetheless, three-quarters of an hour on and I realise that I don't see how the lower thread pierces the material from below. So how are the complementary stiches from the bobbin below made ? I Googled and came up with the statement that the bobbin "secures" the stitch. From this I gather that the lower thread does not have to rise above the materials. I'm left with the problem how the stich is secured ....
@TockCustom4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment, happy this was so helpful. As for the explanation of the stitch animation - the top thread goes over and under the fabric with ever stitch, the bobbin thread is not visible on the outside of the fabric, and just secures each stitch in place. It essentially makes a "chain" of loops over and over where the fabric is caught between each loop made by 2 threads. The end result is the illusion that there is only one thread. Hope that makes sense. I appreciate you taking the time to reach out :)

i REALY ENJOYIED YOUR VIDEO. I'm a 75 year old man, and I have only done a little sewing. I never understood how it worked. My first sewing machine was a 1949 Singer, with separate button hole attachments and other attachments which I never learned how to use. The drive wheel developed a flat spot due to being stored for several years with the wheel engaged. I bought another sewing machine, which was a Singer 32 function stitch machine which I didn't have much luck with, but I am going to try again.
