Who pantsed it better? What exactly *is* viscose dobby? And is this in fact the sweatiest sewing vlog you've ever seen?! All equally important questions. Check out Katie's video here! kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWSmiHWhi9SIhas

I was super excited to see Katie do these pants, and just as excited to discover your channel because of it! With all the “I sew a whole summer wardrobe in four hours” videos out there, I really enjoy watching sewtubers who work a little more like I do: agonize over fabric choices, measure, stare, freak out, realize I’ve made a mistake and fix it, cut, stare, freak out, realize I’ve made a mistake and fix it, take a three day break, and knock it out because I’ve set myself a deadline and I work way better under pressure. Am I projecting too much? Maybe. Anyway these look AMAZING!!! The slash pockets came out great! And the finishing is really nice. I need to practice French seaming because my seam allowances always seem to be more a suggestion than a rule lol. You rock, and I’m now subscribed!

Interloper from Katie's page. Way to go!! For first pants they are amazing! Dobby is indeed the little diamond pattern on the fabric. Its made on a different loom to other woven fabrics. Viscose is a bit of a tricky beastie any slippery fabric is so well done on getting great french seams with slippery fabrics.

Oh my god thank you for the dobby knowledge! That makes sense now, there are just so many different fabric words to learn. I knew the viscose would be a challenge but I also knew it would be flouncy as heck so no regrets! 😆

I relate so hard to the "I have a deadline, but let me do these three to five other things first" procrastination mentality
@TheGiddyStitcher2 жыл бұрын
Haha, ok I am no stranger to procrastination but in my defense THIS ONE TIME all of those other things also had to be done before we went away 😅

Okay, #1 your video is 1000% so much better. #2 YOU'RE SO FREAKING CUTE! #3 we apparently need to have a "who's workspace is messier" contest because that's something I think I'll beat anyone at. It's been super fun working on this with you! Nice pants!!
@TheGiddyStitcher2 жыл бұрын
I can't believe we did it! PANTS! Honestly I normally keep the room a *bit* tidier because we use it for resin stuff too and that could spell disaster with fabric and yarn everywhere. But the week before holiday was not the time to care 😅 Thanks again for doing this with me! Although I feel you're rewriting history a bit by pretending I was the super competitive one from the start 😉

Yes, you were right about dobby. It's fabric with small textured circles on it. Your fabric looks lush! Your french seams are beautiful. You've officially got yourself some fancy pants! 👖💃

Thank you! Little by little my sewing vocabulary expands 😁 FANCY! PANTS!

Wow! Miss Giddy you are not an idiot that's for sure! I love the pants and they look fantastic on you. I came over from Katie's channel and I enjoyed your video so much. You have a great sense of humor too! We need that sense of fun because sewing, quite often, will lead to tears. No crying here! Oh. I also love the crochet halter top you made. Stunning!
@TheGiddyStitcher2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! Sewing is definitely my highest stress craft but I can report with 100% honesty that I made it through this whole project tears-free. Probably because I was dehydrated from all the sweating, but still...
@rosemariepagano53402 жыл бұрын
@@TheGiddyStitcher It is a high stress craft for me as well. Give me any stitch pattern to knit or crochet and I am confident. I enjoy the challenge. But, sewing is a different beast plus it involves ironing which I really hate!

@@rosemariepagano5340 100%! I think it's knowing that some mistakes are just going to be final, it makes the whole thing much higher stakes 🙈

Your pants off gave me the courage to try making my own culottes, and now in the last 2 well weeks, I’ve made them, 2 pairs of June pants from Helen’s Closet, the Reynold’s dress, and working on my 5th and 6th Ashton tank tops! Who knew a big reason I don’t like clothes off the rack is because there’s about 6 sizes difference between my top and bottom? lol It’s going great, and also thanks to the power of suggestion from you I think lol, I’ve become obsessed with French seaming (so much KZbin research and watching to incorporate pockets 🙄), and otherwise making sure that all seams (finally got the waistband fully enclosed by the third pair of pants) are fully encased at the end.😊 And it’s so much more inspiring really, when you show what happens when things don’t work out exactly the way you want-turns out the world doesn’t end, and I’ve ended up with things I love and yes, are getting incrementally better, but all are wearable as far as I’m concerned. Sorry for the ridiculously long message, but just had to say “Thank you!!!”

Thank you! Honestly they are so comfy, the fabric was a nightmare to work with but it feels AMAZING on my legs. Worth it just for that alone!
Thank you for this, really useful, got it bookmarked for the weekend. I'm gonna be such a fabric expert by this time next week 😎

Love a good sewing video! I’m always tempted to see clothes for myself, but I know I don’t have the patience to make them look nice. Plus I mostly wear jeans and t-shirts anyway. I think you are doing great despite all your comments of not knowing what you are doing. Everyone has to start somewhere right?
@TheGiddyStitcher2 жыл бұрын
Exactly! I wish I was better at working with this fabric, and I could've picked something easier, but then the pants wouldn't have those swooshy holiday vibes I wanted! Rather have slightly wobbly seams but extra swoosh, at least until I gain the skills to have the best of both worlds 😁

Amazing! Watching these pants coalesce from the raw fabric of the universe was enlightening... normally I just hear a lot of sweaty cursing from the back room, followed by wild-eyed, Doc Brown-style babbling about seam allowances or overlockers or whatnot!

Haha, cheers petal. We'll get you into sewing soon enough and then you'll understand.

Ok so here’s the verdict: she had 2 pet cameos instead of one Dave cameo, she used soft sunset footage instead of windy rough English weather and also she did happy dances instead of dripppng sweat over poor dobby (fabric)… I have to give it to you because she clearly cheated!!!!! 😂

Ok for the record I just want to say that at no point did we get to the stage of actually dripping sweat on things. But also, hear hear!

Won't you get kicked out of the UK for calling them pants?! Just kidding. You did a great job. I wish I could even attempt anything remotely like that (or even know what a French seam is). I've made one small pillow on my machine and think I need therapy to get over my fear of using it again. Rock those awesome "pants" with pride!

Haha, oh this comment made me laugh. You're not projecting at all, I think we are one and the same! Those actual skilled sewists and their "quick and easy" projects, they're the worst 😂 After a ton of projects where I basically just ignore recommended seam allowance to the detriment of everything, it's typical that the one time I do it properly is on huge pants where nobody would have noticed anyway. But it was definitely good practise and I genuinely am very proud of that part. Thanks for stopping by, and welcome to the channel! 🥰

Haha, thank you and welcome! The annoying part was we already filmed a reveal in nice weather, but the camera footage went weird. So of course on the one day remaining it was going to be super windy. Of course. 😅
