Thank you, this is something new to me. So this is why my thread breaks after a while - I see it twisting around itself.

Oh my goodness this is the best video! It still doesn't fix my total problem but it's awesome. My sewing machine only has the horizontal pin and it doesn't close up into the sewing machine like yours I just have a simple sewing machine from Walmart that my mother-in-law gave me. I am attempting to sew a bridesmaid's dress and so I bought the invisible thread. My problem is as it's coming off the spool it's getting hooked around the pin itself. So I'm going to see if I can find a hole in the top of my sewing machine to put something or like you had to duct tape. Wish me luck! I don't believe in luck really. Lol

Wow! I could not figure out why my thread kept breaking no matter what I tried. I think you have the answer!

I think the rule is to put spiral wound thread horizontally n the straight wound thread on a vertical spindle
@ellenhofer33435 жыл бұрын
Yes. You shouldn't have to test every single spool of thread you own. Never heard of all this testing stuff in all professionally taught classes I've taken

@@ellenhofer3343 That's great if you know if the spool of thread is "spiral" wound or if it's "straight" wound .. I as a beginner would have no clue so this tutorial is very helpful to someone like me.

I actually did know this.

I noticed some spools of cotton thread are wound onto the spools in a Cross wise fashion * not sure of the word* and others are just wound on as normal. Does it matter if you use either with horizontal system or a vertical one?
