Thank you. I love function but I also like my storage to be beautiful. I filmed my latest sewing room tour a few weeks ago which has a whole different vibe (we moved to another state this summer) and I love how I have been able to create beautiful storage there as well.

I love the look of your sewing room and sewing table! When I see tables with cutouts like this I have to ask, what happens if you get a different sewing machine that isn't the same size though? Yes, you can cut a larger hole but what happens if you want to use a smaller machine?

Please do! I love showing what I do and hope it helps someone else. I have spent countless hours trying to find what works for me and to make it match my decor aesthetic. The internet was helpful so enjoy the jars! And yes, it was so wonderful to have my Father-in-law here. On my blog, I showed the sewing table and how the room has evolved. I had to make that Ikea hack myself.

Your oak table gave me an idea: I am moving and my dining oak table will be too big but now I am thinking about use it for my sewing room. Did you lowered the height of the table legs or if you keep it normal ??

Sorry for the late response! I kept it normal dining height. I am on the taller side but the regular height with the machine dropped in meant my shoulders could be totally relaxed.

Hello! They are from Ikea. They are the Billy Bookcases and yes I had three and my husband had two. I trimmed out top and bottom and between the bookcases with pine then painted them. This way they looked built in. The Billy Bookcases come in 4 or 5 colors too! Sorry for the late reply-we just moved last week and I am unpacking up a storm so i can get back to quilting!

All your things are perfect for the calm area to quilt. I can see that I can move my sewing table in front of my shelves holding my fabrics in order to get it away from in front of my windows. I just never thought about doing that. I also bought the comic book stock cards to use to store my fabric on. Can't wait to get started on that as I just finished a king size quilt for my son and daughter-in-law who will be retiring and going on the road in a huge RV and the quilt matches the colors on the outside of it. Beautiful royal blue, light and medium blues, black, med and light grey ad white. So beautiful. At the quilters so now would be a great time to reorganize my room.

It is a good time to re-do rooms when there isnt alot going on. I love thinking of unexpected ways to put desks and not necessarily the traditional way against a wall. Wish you good luck!

Thank you so much! The dimensions are 12x14ft. On the left size my sewing desk is my husbands desk (he draws and paints) and to the left of that were two french doors leading to another room. We removed the doors and that is our children's craft room -well we turned it into a Lego Room now. The evolution of this space can be found on my blog quiltingfor4.com

Hello! Yes, I found them at a few places since I needed so many. I found mine at Crate and Barrel, Cost Plus World Market and Target. I believe Walmart also sells them. They are the 2 gallon size.
