Mark's a lucky guy! Great shirt, well done, Marie 😍 I enjoyed seeing how the technically correct narrow hem is done, thanks for sharing.

Nice work Marie. I have never understood when using a men’s shirt pattern that they make the girth so big. Nice man Marie.

Blue is my favorite color and calico cotton is high up there in my favorite fabrics. The shirt is, as he says, a good one. I'm thinking the extra length on the sleeve pattern is for when he stretches out his arm. Just standing still the length is fine. It looks great on him!

Love it! Thanks for showing the hem method. When I feel very patient, I will try it. I cannot get rolled hem feet to work for me at all. So, I usually turn and turn again. But I will try this method as I love the clean look it produces.

Outstanding sew along and tutorial. I especially like all the tips and hints you provide along the journey. The fabric you chose was wonderful. The finished shirt looks great on your husband. I do like the idea of the collar stand finish and the detail of the topstitching there... I must remember, and as you said, it will work for the cuff as well. Thanks again. In my lifetime journey 50 years ago, my husband worked in the jungle of South America. The insects loved him and he would come home with terrible bites. The bugs would get down his shirt. I sewed a couple of jumpsuits for him (I think the guys teased him a bit) but they helped and were easy wash, dry and wear. I wish I had all your tips back then but I was happy I had some sewing knowledge to do the job.

Seems many fabrics are printed askew these days. Not sure why. Enjoy your new cabinets. We never have quite enough storage space. 🥴 Thanks for sharing your latest project.

I learned something here: if the fabric is printed askew, cut out based on the print rather than the actual grain. Would it somehow have a look (to another person without knowledge of sewing) of something not quite right, but something askew or asymmetrical? You are one of the most talented people I have observed sewing in such detail. The thing I’ve noticed about sewing instructors (especially Nancy) is they often advise cutting out and constructing in ways not described in the instructions. I have no such expertise. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Great pattern, I'm starting to sew a blue jean jacket from old blue jeans. (My first project) I might try this next. But I'm waiting on the 5/16" double needle gauge for the 112w140. You were wondering about today's cowboy attire. Well in Wyoming everyone wears Carhartts, in coats, bibs, shirts, trousers, t-shirts. I retired from the military, then recently retired from the railroad, out here the only jobs are the coal mines, ranching, railroading, or the oilfields. I don't know anyone who makes their own clothes anymore except for the ones like you who make videos. I'm glad you and others put out these videos otherwise this well be a lost talent.

I finished my ribbon shirt and it came out good even tho I did struggle with the collar and facing for awhile. I'm fairly new to sewing, I made a few dresses and things during covid but haven't made much since then. It's so fun !! I've learned to trust the instructions for most of it until I'm more comfortable. There is so much to sewing that doesn't include the machine

Hi Marie. At 31:00, draw a line on the wrong side of the plackets at 1 1/4” and fold the fabric to meet that line. It will be a 5/8” fold.

You can usually find them on eBay or Facebook marketplace pretty easily. The main thing is to make sure you get the right shank type. I find most are for low shank but there's a lot of slant shank ones out there also. If you need slant shank let me know.
