“Do you ever go to the basement and find another sewing machine” that has to be one of the funniest things anyone has said all day!

I enjoyed listening to your running commentary as you problem solve the crazy mischievous fabric. Perfection has been thrown out the window. 😅❤. End product is beautiful.

Once again I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I plan to make this for my birthday and February. I am what most would call an advanced beginner, I can follow a pattern and put together a wearable garment. Now I am at the point of understanding pattern modifications in order to achieve a better fit. Thank you so much for the time and effort that you put into teaching pattern modifications.

Wow, I'm very impressed with your perseverance! I would probably have put that into the 'UFO' box when the facings messed up, and I would tell myself that I'll just make a throw pillow out of it.😆😆

Thank you for teaching us patience and how to accept the fabric, whatever it wants to do. The vest would look beautiful over a golden dress with long tapered sleeves. I can see you all fancied up.

This reminds me of a beautiful gold and brown piece of fabric that I got . It was almost four yards and 50 inches wide, and I washed it in the normal wash, as it was likely to be washed as a garment. When I took it out of the washer -- not even dried it yet, it had shrunk to the size and width of a scarf.

Lovely looking fabrics! Those pocket flaps would probably get lost in that lovely pattered fabric. Great executive decision to eliminate them.😊 That lovely blue fabric seems very challenging.😮 Good idea about ditching the side pockets. Might be the blue fabric is too lightweight for pockets anyway? Quite an ever changing project! Good thing you’re very experienced at alterations.😊 Congratulations on completing a marvelous looking, if rather tricky project. 🎊

Well, that fabric gave you the run around all right 😱 ... but the end result is gorgeous! 😍 Well done, Marie! I think I would style it with a solid dark coloured dress (or skirt and top, or trousers and top) so that the glorious vest is centre stage. Just a suggestion. Enjoy wearing it! (BTW we don't have a basement, but even if we did, I am absolutely sure I wouldn't find a random sewing machine in there! 🤣)

It was fun to watch you make the vest. I learned a lot about putting in a interlining. Beautiful colors too. I like it but I would like a vest that was long in a green boiled wool. Wearing it over those slacks in the pattern that look like Audrey Hepburn s famous pleated trousers. How dare she wear slacks all the time and not a dress. Have a good day Marie your the best medicine for me.

You know, you I'm going to make a wool project soon. Not Audrey Hepburn though, although she was always classically beautiful.

A beautiful finished garment but 😱😱😱 what a nightmare! Haha I feel like I’ve said this before 😂😂 Awesome salvage and the fabric really is beautiful. I would style it over closer fitting blouse sleeves or turtlenecks. The fullness of the sleeve you were wearing seemed to bunch a little around the arms. Can totally see it over long flowy black wide leg pants and a black turtleneck. Just my opinion. I’m no fashion guru 😂 I was totally channeling you this evening, Marie. I cut out a pattern and had a bunch of fabric left over and decided to squeeze out another from the leftovers. I was ‘sure’ I had enough 🙄 I got to the last piece and had just enough, until I realized I needed 2😳. Well, what would Marie do? She always finds a way…and happily, I think I did too. I’ll sew it tomorrow and we shall see🫣

It’s beautiful. There’s so many ways you can style this because it’s a layering piece. You can dress it up or layer it over a pair of dark colored jeans dress it down. Love your work and oh what a great find discovering your vintage sewing machine. I am currently on the hunt for a treadle. And, I’m trying to restore a featherweight on my own which I must admit I’m a little nervous about.😊

That’s such beautiful fabric, it’s such a shame it’s so rebellious! The end result was gorgeous though, so it was worth all that effort. The turquoise blue wth the gold is really eye catching. I’ve made the pants from that set. They turned out ok, but i’m 5’8” so i can carry that flared leg and extra wide waistband (provided I don’t sit down 😂) Mimi must be wearing platform stilettos on that cover pic, cause she’s not tall. But the whole outfit has a lengthening effect on her.
@mybucoliclife Жыл бұрын
I've been looking at that pants pattern for a while. I'm sure she's wearing platform shoes and even with that she has them all the way to the ground. I just couldn't do that. If I do make them I'm definitely shortening my hem so I don't trip.
