Excellent video! So many great sewing tips learned by watching it. Your videos are wonderful tutorials for those of us who don't have a lot of experience garment sewing. The pattern isn't one I'd normally buy, but after watching this video, it will go onto my pattern list for a future buy. I really like the idea of having a flannel shirt that doesn't look like a typical pattern shirt whatsoever. Thank you for listing all your sewing notions in the video notes section. 🥰

You really pack a lot of tips in every make! I liked the using twill tape instead of elastic but I expected you to sew it directly on the fabric. I would never have thought to lace it through the casing. I was reminded of why I hate facings though: so much detailed work! But you do it so well. It really turned out nice. Also I wouldn't have thought to narrow the sleeve to fit the fabric. And that is why I end up with a pile of fabric on my table and no progress! Your pattern adjustments are so simple but not what comes to my mind when I'm trying to figure it out. Thanks for letting me look over your shoulder; I will get something to fit right yet!!

Marvelous Marie, this top is really beautiful and I love it in the flannel. Perfect for autumn! It’s a very flattering shape, not too flared at the bottom, which is great! I got a couple of Big 4 patterns recently, inspired by you, and I plan to be as meticulous as you in the construction process. One of them is quite similar to this one, actually. I’ve made several big 4’s but my preference is indie, generally speaking. Love all you do!! ❤️

@@mybucoliclife definitely. There are many ‘dupes’ I’m noticing. You’ve helped decode and demystify the ‘language’ of big 4 patterns so I’m feeling more inclined to use them more. Especially since there are so many to choose from and they are so much cheaper (when they’re on sale) than indie patterns! ❤️

Hi. I have a question. It really doesn’t pertain to this video, but lately some of the fabric that I have purchased has the pattern stamped onto the material not in alignment with the grain. Does this happen to anyone else? How do you handle this? Line up by the pattern or by the grain? Split the difference? When the fabric is ordered, some suppliers won’t take it back. Thank you so much for all the information that you put out! I love your channel.
@mybucoliclife2 жыл бұрын
This is a problem. For me, it depend on how bad the print is skewed, what I can do with it. If it's only off by an inch or so I'll use it and line the grainlines by the print. If it is more than a few inches off it could be difficult for clothes.

Another well explained sewing project - always look forward to your wonderful videos and your soothing voice. Such pretty fabric. I believe that you use a piece of leather with your hole punch but was wondering if you have a suggestion for something else you could use.
@mybucoliclife2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I think you are asking for something besides leather? I suppose a piece of wood? The hole punch is sharp and will cut a hole in fabric if used without a barrier of something thick. I hope that is what you meant. :)

Thank you - that is exactly what I was asking.

Wondering why on the sleeve, wrist end, you turned under the serged edge inside the casing? Just not sure if I would make a mistake to leave it flat. Thanks. I bought the pattern yesterday to have it ready. Looking forward to making it.
@mybucoliclife2 жыл бұрын
Hello! So much of this process is just finding what works for you, and in my opinion there isn't a wrong way, just design options 😊 the pattern said to tuck the edge under and for this video I was trying to follow it, but there's nothing wrong with just turning up a surged edge. That's how I hemmed it. 😁

Well, I hope you can figure out the part of the instructions they left out. I have it 90% completed and I am stuck. I am using a 50 50 cotton poly twin fitted sheet of very bold paint splash design. It is supposed to be a wearable mock up. I used a piece of cording sewn into 1 end of the strap. I was glad that this ended up being fairly simple. I came up with 5/8 for that top stitching line on the sleeve. My sleeve notches matched perfectly. The front and back notches are at different heights. Ok then. I see what you did. I dont like the shoulder with no facing. Your method did not work for me. So disappointed!
