You've got some exciting times coming up with your sewing! I agree, it is really easy to get caught up in sewing the latest and greatest pattern that everyone else is sewing. From the first time I watched one of your vlogs I thought we were kind of on the same page in lots of ways, not every way, but quite a lot actually. In recent times I've been heading away from doing what I thought I "should" with my channel and my makes and am going my own way a lot more. I look forward to seeing what you come up with. ❤

Hi Catherine! I've often thought the same as well. I watch your channel a lot but don't always comment because I usually watch youtube in the morning with "my morning cuppa" on our tv and I'm not able to comment and like on our tv. But I've noticed your changes and really like them. I like how you focus a lot on New Zealand pattern designers and fabric stores. I'm having a lot more fun sewing this year as I'm focused on sewing and not on youtube. Take care and I'll see you next week! ❤️😊

My sparkle is just me spending more time in getting ready. I'm putting on a little bit of makeup and doing more with my hair. I got a manicure and I chose a sparkly pink polish. My husband commented on my change and has even asked me a time or two, "Where are you going?" I smile and tell him I'm just dressing for my day. I didn't realize how sloppy I had become. I feel so much better about myself when I put out the effort.

I love the way you think and the examples you gave. I totally agree, you don't need a special occasion to wear the beautiful clothes you make. Thanks for the inspiration 😊

Exactly, Saun!! I'm finding it easier and easier to wear "special" fabrics on regular days. I'm so used to dressing down that I forgot how good it feels to wear something that makes me feel pretty. We all need to do that more!

Thanks Izzy. I'm really having fun sewing this first month of 2024. I hope my enthusiasm stays with me and doesn't wane as the year goes on. I'm already looking forward to Spring because we're over the coldest days here in California. Still not sunny and warm but it'll be that way before you know it. That gives me lots of ideas!

Hi Gloria! It was great having you join our Saturday zooms! We all loved your rabbits and I think a couple of us are going to start making them and using up our scraps. We say it's a great way to use up our scraps but actually we think they're so adorable!!!!

You rocked the sequins! I love the idea of Sparkle Friday. I might make my sparkle day, happen on Thursdays, because I go out with family and friends every Thursday. I kind of got lazy during long covid. It took so long to feel like myself and I didn't have any energy to put effort out to "gussy up". I don't know if I'll ever get back to pre-covid energy but I am adapting. Two weeks ago I started adding make-up and hair styles back in my Thursday routine. I must dig out my sequins!

Hi Mary! Wow, I didn't know you have long covid - I'm so sorry. I had covid for a week last May and it really knocked me over, but I got over it in a week. I'm glad you're getting your energy back even if it's not as fast as you'd like. So what are you wear for your sparkle Thursday? How fun that you have a weekly get together with friends and family. I wish I had that! So yes! Dig out those sequins!!!

10 out of 10 girl, 10 out of 10! The patina blouse is lovely and sparkly but it is not nearly as lovely and sparkly as you are when you're wearing it. You l look confident, you look sassy and it's just amazing all around. You often inspire me in your sewing goals and accomplishments, but I'm really fired up right now to think about my own style. I work with the public and while I'm always me, I get different reactions on different days from them. I'm thinking that some of that has to do with what I'm wearing. Sometimes I'm wearing a comfortable cotton no-shape top and other times I'm wearing something buttoned up with princess seams and guess what? I get the most reaction when I'm wearing the buttoned up princess seam. I'm looking at my Pinterest boards and I love the look of rockabilly or 40s-50s kind of fashion, but I have to be honest. I'm over 50 and that ship may have sailed for me. However, I do love myself some sparkle. So I'm going to take a page from your book and I'm going to start looking around and try to find something that I can incorporate into my daily wear that hopefully will make me feel half as confident and sparkly as you are appearing. The corset or camisole thing over the button up shirt wasn't really all that exciting to me, but then you showed the costume. The idea of having the wide belt or cummerbund or whatever is giving me some inspiration. I don't have a lot of room between my oversized bust and my hip. But I'm thinking that if I can find something that fits in that area it'll make me look like I have more of a waist and a little bit of that 'extra' presence. You probably won't ever see any pictures of anything I make but please be assured that you have inspired me and I am going to go on a Journey. Thank you so much for sharing as much as you do and keep it coming. I am ALL IN all the time.

Girl, you are not too old to wear rockabilly fashion!!! I want to see you make something like that!! And when you do, send a picture to the pollysews22@gmail.com email so I can see it!! But I've got to tell you, I've really been feeling a lot more confident about expressing myself in sewing and in wearing what I'm sewing. It helps to have an office manager who's my age and feels the same as I do when it comes to getting dressed each day. I've got some plans to make these collars that I saw recently in my Tauko magazine. And after seeing the SuperBowl half time show, now I'm really inspired to try to make some really special pieces. One of the collars I want to make in leather with sort of a southwestern feel, but then I started thinking - make another sequin one; and maybe one with faux fur! Please let me know when you've finished one of your pinterest ideas!!!

I love how your Patina turned out! I am not a fan of this pattern, actually. I have made it once last year, and I find it too bulky for my figure. But now, that I see your new version, I may change my mind. I also thank you for your thoughts, that I identfy with so much! ❤❤❤

Thank you, Joanna! 😊 I actually love the collar/neckline of the Patina, but if I make it again I think I'll add some waist shaping since I plan on wearing it tucked in most of the time.

This is exactly what I think, the waist is too roomy, and this is why I was quite disappointed in the first place. But also I think I would like it rather in viscose. I made it in a kind of cotton voile, but a crispy one. And it made me not like it in the end.@@pollysews

Wow! Your blouse is gorgeous! I wouldn't have thought of using sequin fabric for the collar and cuffs. But I'm doing a lot of thinking now.😁

Wonderful! I actually ended up deciding not to do the cuffs in sequins; I thought it looked a little too much like a costume. But I love the sequin collar and want to try adding some sparkle to other garments! I hope you give it a try on some of the patterns you're sewing!
