Sketchy instructions from the 1930s! I love that! Both in sewing and knitting patterns, it's always a puzzle isn't it? The pinafore is absolutely gorgeous and that parrot fabric! It's absolutely a genius design. And you could mix and match that bib. Absolutely beautiful. Today we had tea together while I watched your video! As you've previously said it's like hanging out and sewing with you! It's always nice to get cameos by your dogs as well! ❤❤❤

You know exactly what I mean by sketchy instructions from the 1930s! I love the idea of being, in my own small way, present at your tea! As for the dogs I think my border collie has an especially charismatic presence on screen - and she knows it too 😂❤️❤️

Thank you so much Leslie - I couldn’t resist the parrot fabric. In fact my father is obsessed with parrots (we’re an odd family 😆) so I always notice them! Yes, as well as my vintage patterns I thought I’d start featuring some by independent vintage inspired designers. Thank you so much for watching and hope you have a wonderful week too ❤️

This is a gorgeous make Samantha, what a clever design. It looks fabulous on you and I love the parrot. At approx 10 min in to your video I saw a vintage apron on your mannequin, I love it. ❤️❤️❤️❤️🌺

Thank you very much Lenore, I’m glad you love the design and the parrot print 🦜 It’s funny you noticed the vintage apron on the mannequin because I’d only just taken it off and put it there! I nearly did the introduction in it. I love the typical 40s embroidery on it! 💗💐🌸xx

The fabric is fun and colourful, so many clever adaptable elements in the pattern. I also suffer from gynaecological problems that cause my stomach to swell and sometimes I cannot bear the pressure of clothing, this style would work well for me. Samantha, you looked lovely in your pinafore and with the garden all in bloom.

I’m so pleased you love the parrot fabric too! Yes, there’s an apron option as well as the pinafore bib plus of course ruffles might be added to the skirt etc. She’s such a talented designer! Oh you too with the gynaecological problems, I’m so sorry. They rarely get talked about yet affect one’s life so much. Thank you very much about the garden and the pinafore - I was actually in my mum’s garden this time. She’s a super keen gardener (though I got told off for not cropping off her washing line!) 💐

This is a brilliant idea for a skirt/dress and I also need something to wear when my belly gets bloated (I have ulcerative colitis)! I love the fabric you chose and how you placed the parrot and the flowers. Also loved how you show us exactly how to wear it and of course I always enjoy seeing your beautiful cottage and your cute doggies! Lol at the reveal clips when your dog had his toy in his mouth, I'm afraid he stole the show there! 😅❤❤❤

Oooh! This is the best version of this pattern I’ve seen yet! I’d love to have several for daily wear myself. The problem is I have so little motivation to sew practical garments. It is a problem. 😂
@Samanthalovestosew4 ай бұрын
Thank you very much! You sew such beautiful garments, practicality is just an added bonus, not an essential at all! I understand though. My original intention was to sew the patterns in a plain dark green linen that would go with everything and greatly increase possible outfit choices …. Instead 🦜🦜🦜!!

How this made me laugh Ian. You are funny! I’m planning a video on my true vintage lingerie. You’d better shut your eyes through the whole thing, perhaps only opening them for the WW2 yellowish itchy wool vest that reveals nothing (designed for those homes with no central heating and loos in sheds at the end of the garden!) Ah those were the days!!

Very interesting and useful pattern, there needs to be more cool patterns for adjustable garments that look great and not just passable. And your execution is fabulous, such a great garment with that fabric. :) And I was thinking, maybe if you'd make another one plain, you could mix and match tops and skirts, that might look fun, e.g. green top with parrot skirt or skirt top with green skirt.
@Samanthalovestosew4 ай бұрын
I thought the designer did such a good job on this pattern. There are so many possible variations. I hadn’t thought of doing a plain version and swapping over the elements - that’s such a good idea! There are variations for a circle skirt or an apron, or of course a ruffle could be added. It’s really versatile. Thank you so much for watching and encouraging me in what I do - it’s greatly appreciated 💐

Hi Samantha! Phew! Thank goodness lol. You changed the skirt piece direction! I was watching and thinking "Oh no! It's going to be upside down!" 😮 😱 I completely understand your anxiety the first time you try it on. Too many times my final look is nothing at all like I had hoped. 😖 Honestly it usually isn't anything wrong with the outfit as much as I just really don't like how I look in it. 🫣 I love how this turned out! It's adorable! I love how it's adjustable but I can't help but wonder. Does it feel bulky at the front waist? With the back skirt D rings in the front and the front skirt pieces also wrapped around and tying again in front on top of the D ring ties, does it cause any uncomfortable bulk?
@Samanthalovestosew4 ай бұрын
Oh Laura, you spotted my mistake before I did. Imagine if you’d seen me cutting into the fabric! You’d have wanted to reach into the screen to stop me 😆 No the skirt isn’t bulky at the waist because the back piece wraps over the hips but not over the tum! There’s just the belt tie with the D-rings. Then the front skirt lies flat over the D-rings and wraps around. The only area in which there is two layers of fabric is over the hips but it seemed to lie flat 😃 I’m glad it’s not just me approaching the mirror with trepidation (and imagine knowing it was all going up on KZbin too - extra stress 😂) Thank you so much for watching another episode! ❤️
