Hi Lara! Love your new top! I have that pattern but have not made it yet. Those pleats would definitely throw me for a loop! I think yours turned out just fine, even if not “right” 🙂

I’m glad they’re at least the same!😂 I do like this top. I may have to make it in a cotton and compare. I hope you like it as much as I do when you make it!❤️ So nice to “see” you and thank you for stopping to chat!

I made this with the short sleeves. I love this blouse, very comfortable. I made mine with heavier weight quilting cotton (Stonehenge). I put decorative stitches around the neck and sewed on glass beads. It's beautiful.

That sounds amazing! I think decorative beading on clothing (textiles) is so pretty! And I was sorely tempted to make the super-short sleeve version, but didn't because I wanted to use up as much of the linen as I could. It has such an elegant shape, though. Maybe the next one! Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting! ♥

I just found your channel, or the algorithm found you. I have the pattern and pulled it out a few days ago. I have not read the directions, yet. Now I will. I definitely want to make it out of linen or a linen cotton blend. It looks really good. As for directions being limited, that has been the digression of patterns over the past 20 years. When I began sewing at 13, I just followed the photos, as I was too impatient to read the pattern. I still get more confused reading the patterns. At this point, the designs are so simplistic, I just sew my way. I will have to look at the pattern piece. It seems the arrows for folding the pleats were not printed on the pattern piece.

I'm so glad the algorithm introduced us! You are 100% right that they didn't put lines on the pattern, and it totally makes a world of difference. It definitely takes some skill to write directions, and some patterns are definitely lacking in that area. I forgot to mention that. Linen is a nice fabric for this pattern. I'm wondering what it will look like after I wash it and the weave is more relaxed. I hope that you have a great weekend and fun sewing!😁

Hi Lara! Yes, you did sew up some style! You go, girl. I have the wrong pleats also on my purple dress! Ha ha ha. I left them alone!
@LaraSchiffbauer7 ай бұрын
Darn pleats! At some point it's better to have them match than have them right, in my humble opinion! I do remember that dress and it ended up beautiful, so there's always that! Thanks for stopping by, Zelda! 😄

Love your tunic. Thank you for explaining the sleeves--that is very helpful. Where do you purchase your linen?
@LaraSchiffbauer7 ай бұрын
You’re welcome, and thanks!! I have bought most of my linen from fabric mart with a few pieces from JoAnn’s. Fabric Mart has pretty, good quality linen for a reasonable price!

Hi Lara! I love your new linen top and the color is beautiful on you 😍 I also love how those pleats turned out, it's such a fun detail and you will surely enjoy wearing that for a long time! I did do some extra thinking to make the Shepherd skirt (Merchant and Mills) because some of the pleat wrapped over others 😬 to take in fullness. I've made two of them now. I like this series! 😘

Thank you, Lynn! I'm going to have to look at that pattern, because that sounds fabulous and confusing at the same time!! I do love a good pleat! Thanks so Imuch for enjoying this series. I really like it, too! It's so fun seeing what other people like and want to see made. I hope you voted for the next one! Have a wonderful weekend!♥

@@LaraSchiffbauer I think I did 🙃 I didn't know those little bits from vloggers were there for the longest time, I'm trying to remember to go look at those more often. Your short with the corset vest and skirt this morning was so pretty!

I love that color on you! Pleats are always such a challenge for me. My brain has trouble with the 3D visualization, like we’ve talked about. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve basted a pleat, unpicked, done it the exact same way, unpicked….and then walked away for a breather lol
@LaraSchiffbauer7 ай бұрын
I love how pleats look (so much better than gathering, imho) but I have limited knowledge and so it is definitely a trial and error effort, especially when they're used decoratively! I should do more so I get more practice, I suppose. Thanks so much for saying hello! I hope your weekend is wonderful. ♥

Hi Lara, Sometimes I just have to put down the instructions and revisit the next day. I had such a hard time with the Gertie bustier that it clicked the next day. Your blouse came out perfect. There was no ad after you said "reveal". 😂 Have a great weekend! 🥰

Really like the look of that sleeve. I wonder which would be cooler in our Florida summers -- making that top out of linen or cotton? Hmmmm...
@LaraSchiffbauer7 ай бұрын
Thanks, Deb! That is the question, isn't it! I think Linen is supposed to have wicking properties, but if it's a heavier linen versus a lightweight cotton, I imagine it would be better to go with the cotton. I try to just stick with natural fibers, or at least mostly natural (like a Rayon Poly blend.) Thanks so much for stopping and saying hi!!🙂
@DebsWay7 ай бұрын
I think cotton might be what I would choose, too. Happy Sewing!

Such a great shirt and colour on you 💜. I think I've made the short sleeve version so can't comment on the pleats but my front opening didn't come out as sharp as yours as a floppier fabric. It is perfect in linen. Great job. X

Hi, Carole! Thanks so much for stopping and chatting! I have to admit I totally measured out the facing on the collar before sewing the front facing to the back to be sure it matched. I have such a trouble with facing not fitting right. It did seem to make the best neckline I've ever made so far! Is the short sleeve on your KZbin? I'd love to see it made up! Have a great weekend!❤
@socarole667 ай бұрын
@@LaraSchiffbauer no I I made the top before I started KZbin and I think I donated it as the front was too floppy? Really not sure anymore what I’ve made and shown as I’m not as organised as others 🤣. I will check though xx
