The “Walk away….Come back later” theory comes with age. I learned to sew when I was 10, I am now 79! In my youth I pushed myself to the point I started making mistakes. Now before I frustrate myself, I set it down, shut off the machine and leave!

Great video!! I have the same machine and I think the thread tension is the white knob on the front with the numbers 1-4 and the top is the pressor foot tension?
@SewHungryHippie Жыл бұрын
Sounds right. I never change either. 😂 When I speak of tension I am referring to foot pressure.

If you heat your pressing mat with your iron and sit the vinyl on top it warms it enough to turn easier.

My only problem was top stitching the zipper, which wasn’t horrible, but the boxed corners were a disaster. I didn’t think of trying my walking foot and finally dug out one of my Featherweights. That worked. Not sure I’ll box the corners next time. I did use all the recommended tools.

Hi everyone

The knob that you are referring to on the top of your machine is not your tension dial. It is your presser foot pressure. Your thread tension is the dial on the front of your machifromwhere your thread tension disk is.
@SewHungryHippieАй бұрын
Yes I know, I think I call it presser foot tension. If I mispoke, oh well sorry!

Hey Natalie, I received my TPU order today (love coffee, sugar skulls, and peace ☮️) I cut a test strip and played with tension but I’m nesting like crazy! I sew on a straight stitch PQ Brother 1500 SL with Teflon foot. Any suggestions? ❤thanks
@SewHungryHippie Жыл бұрын
Yes, have you adjusted the foot pressure tension? Have you rethreaded? Are you using Gutermann thread? Microtex needle?
@christievans1891 Жыл бұрын
@@SewHungryHippie Hi, yes I adjusted the tension, rethreaded my machine, I’m using Gutermann thread and changed needles. I was able to sew today and interestingly I had a better result with a leather needle. No more nesting 🪡🎉 Thanks!
@aprilsodoski4696 Жыл бұрын
So you are talking about Foot Pressure? I thought tension was the rotary dial in the thread path.
@SewHungryHippie Жыл бұрын
Foot pressure yes. It’s the top knob in my Juki
@thehannahregina10 ай бұрын
That's exactly what I was saying. That's not the tension it's foot pressure.

Does the By Annie tape washaway? Can you see it when sewing with it on the zipper with the TPU?
@SewHungryHippie Жыл бұрын
I don’t see it at all- maybe it could show up on a black tape? I’ll try it
@aileenc8622 Жыл бұрын
I’m confused. I thought the small dial is tension as the thread goes through the tension disc there. The top dial is the presser foot.
@SewHungryHippie Жыл бұрын
I am talking about adjusting foot pressure tension- I don't adjust thread tension ever, like ever.....
@Wisepati10 ай бұрын
@@SewHungryHippie that wasn’t as clear thanks for explaining because most people when they say tension, think of the thread and I think of pressure with the pressure foot.
