I probably commented last time, but Im about to make another one of these at my daughters request. I made one months ago for her when I was still learning as an extremely green newbie. But now that I have made quite a few things including a quilt, I see how truly simple and easy yet functional this pattern is. I cant wait to make it again. Thanks for teaching us so much!

@sabrinaharris65382 жыл бұрын
I just made 1 of these, I did change a. Few things, I made the second pocket down about 1/2" from the first one, then sewed 2 lines (top to bottom on the second pocket), both 2 1/2" from the side, this makes perfect card pockets. I also left the opening at the top, much easier, and instead of a magnetic snap, I used a kam snap, which can be put on after the wallet is done, and can match the fabric color. I love that the wallet is big enough for a phone, I was needing a new phone wallet, and now I can make them for the seasons/holidays. Thank You for sharing Your Time, and Your Talent. Great instructions, and yes, you are right, the iron is your friend.

9-6-21: Hey Nikki. I had to find another way to make this work without having to struggle with pulling it inside out from the side, and I did. I sewed it all the way around leaving a 4" gap AT THE TOP and wella, it was a done, and much easier deal, at least for me. Now I can make as many as I want hassle-free and I'm loving it! Of course, all my thanks go to you for posting this tutorial in the first place.

I find it easier to close the gap neatly when it’s at the top, on a longer stretch of stitching at each end of the gap.

Thanks! You will be able to make this in 15 minutes or less once you do one or 2. The hardest part is turning it! I have switched the positions of the clasps when I sew this however. The thinner portion of the snap makes it easy to sew the closure at the top. Try that!

08/31/21: Well, Nikki girl, you did not lie about that turning. I couldn't get my two fingers inside as you did, so I worked with only one and my goodness, it took me quite some time to turn it out because it was so tight. You made it look so easy. I almost became frustrated to the point where I wanted to rip it to shreds, but patience got me through it and it turned out nice. Although beautiful, I had to ask myself, would I make another? Honestly, no. BTW, the two pieces of scraps 809 you cut for reinforcement for the magnetic clasps, I noticed that you only used one, but I figured since you cut two, the other was meant for the first clasp, so I used it as well. Thank you for this tutorial. At least I gave it a try, but I will keep this one for myself.

I promise(!!) - it gets easier after your first few!!! Not kidding!!! You can do one of these as gifts around the holidays, in about 20 minutes!!! Stay at it and figure out how to make it your own! To be honest, I learned that when I don't have my nails that long, I am quicker and it is much easier. : ) Do another one.....!! Yes, I do use 809 on both sides of the clasps to reinforce it. You can always changed the kind of clasp you use as well... just try again!!

This is an excellent tutorial. I'm still a beginner so this was perfect for me. Thank you for spelling out the materials especially which type of interfacing to use. I do have a question. I've made 6 wallets so far and although they have improved dramatically from the first one to most recent, I'm still trying to figure out why the divider inside the pocket has a warped look. Can you tell me if there is something I can do to improve that? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again so much! I'm looking forward to seeing what other projects of yours I can try. :)
@SewnByNikki3 жыл бұрын
Hmm. Shouldn't look warped. I'm assuming you ironed both top and inside? The layers are thick so you may have to leave the iron on for a bit. Be sure to use something to push the divider section down inside. It will help flattened when ironed.
