This was a great tutorial, but I've been looking in vain for a tutorial that shows how to add the knit cuff to the inside lining of the sleeve and not at the bottom of the cuff, so that it stops cold air from going up your sleeve, but doesn't show. I'm sure I can McGuyver it, but I'm also sure that there's a "correct" way to do it and was hoping to be able to find out how it's done without looking awful, even though no one will ever see it. I've looked everywhere, but no luck. Any ideas?

Thank you, I've watched videos eg how to make a hoodie tutorial but when the person says, now attach the cuffs and then just sews them on, I'm always confused as to how, thanks for going in depth.

Making a hoodie is a bit advanced so they likely assume you already know how if you're tackling that ambitious of a sewing project. That's a flawed assumption to make, though, because a lot of people learn only what they need to know to complete each project. When I was 19 I was making my living off custom period costumes and bridal gowns, I've made everything from fully boned corsets to Elizabethan collars, but 23 years later and hell if I ever learned how to attach knitted cuffs to a hoodie.... 😅 I don't expect every DIY to teach every detail but it's a lot more helpful to at least give people resources like this video to fill in the gaps. It's intimidating to feel like you "should" already know everything, it can frustrate and overwhelm you. My bf does it to me with computer stuff all the time... 🤓💻

Very good. What about sewing a stretch cuffs into the sleeves of a puffa jacket?

Thanks for the idea for the video. I didn't have to do that, but I'll try.

I need to make form fitting (durable) cuffs for instrument bags (aerosol bags for woodwinds) what material should I look for a cuff? Trying to determine if cheaper to make vs buying sweat wristbands. TYIA

We cannot help you with anything, decide for yourself. Try what will be more efficient and then buying it.

hi, can this be done just using a straight stitch?
@jenacy4 жыл бұрын
It would be possible, but better not to. When sewing with a stretch material you should always use a zigzag stitch. A zigzag stitch will stretch with the fabric, a straight stitch will break. Hope this helps :)
@scrapsandcats11 ай бұрын
my thought also, but its a serger so even a straight stitch will stretch

Dagnabbit . . .i found this really nifty way of making cuffs but found the joins WAY to thick when it came to sewing them on: yours is a MUCH simpler method.

Okay but I tore the cuff off of my hoodie and I dont have a sewing machine. How would I go about reattaching it?
