@user-vg1cn4if4x well as a victim, I was molested when I was younger, it confused me about my sexuality and etc. It made me ashamed and embarrassed and borderline suicidal. I remember wanting to kill myself over the confusion, the torment, I would cry when talking about it etc.... but as I got older I realized that I can't revolve my entire life around a situation that happened so many years ago. And even when I talk about it this day I can share with someone what happened to me when I was a child without any emotional attachment to it. Being molested isn't my identity, it's not who I am as a person. It was something that happened to me but it isn't "my world" .... life goes on. To this day when I do share it with someone for whatever reason It's not that big a deal. It's as small as going to the beach and picking up one little grain of sand. That little grain is that situation that happened to me. But their are millions if not billions of other moments

Remember after jail and therapy this guy has sat in thousands of group meetings telling his story over and over. That's why he's using the plain terms and being clinical. It's the story he's been going through since 1986. He deserves to have spent the time in jail but how he acts in an interview won't tell much of anything about anything. If he's coming on here and showing his face to tell this story it says a lot more about what he's trying to do to be better.

I spent 17 years as a child abuse investigator. What I saw over and over was women who's fathers had abused them would allow their fathers to babysit. Their thought process was that yes he abused me, his daughter, but he surely wouldn't abuse his granddaughter. Guess how that turned out. Please don't make this mistake ladies. As a victim of sexual child abuse what buffles me is how much help the offenders get but how little options there is for victims. I understand that the treatment stops the offenders from hurting others but we, the victims need to function in society as well. I am affected to this day, pay for expensive therapy and don't get the government to help me because I can't keep a job due to my trauma. Another thing is the reaction of the neighbors to the girls being abused, taunting them at school for being victims of something so horrific speaks volumes about the society. It's absolutely disgusting. I appreciate the fact that this man was honest about what he has done. I had to hide the secret of who my abuser was because of how many people it could affect which is fucked as well. Victims protecting other people's feelings while they suffer.

Having been molested by my Mother until the age of Fourteen, this interview completely enrages me. My recently deceased mother never went to prison. She had a good life and died a multi-millionaire. People have no idea of how damaging this type of abuse is. Life is a daily struggle because of my mother. I wasn't anything but a piece of s**t to her. I'm still wondering if I'll ever see the $500 she left me in her will. If I do, I'll be sure to spend it on something she wouldn't approve of.

As someone who has a quite good understanding of human psychology. I can say that those who crossed that boundary of being abusive tend to continue abusing. There are those who manage to correct their behaviour, but it's not the norm. A paedophile can never stop being one, but he/she can choose to not abuse. It provokes me a lot when he said "I damaged my daughter for life, but despite molesting her I was a good father.". A good father would have gone to prison over men like him if necessary.

I was 6 years old when a man molested me. He was my babysitter that was across the hall from where I had lived with my mom and her abusive boyfriend. She would have him watch me while she did drugs or went out. The things he said to me just seemed to make sense and at the time I didn't know what was happening was wrong. I am filled with shame and guilt every day even though I know I was too young to understand what he was doing. A few years later when I was around 12 or something I get pulled out of school thinking I did something bad lol. Turns out, some detectives wanted me to talk about what happened to me and that he was caught and had done it to 4 other children which were all older than me. I would tell them something very close to the truth, but while being filled with immense shame and guilt because I never did anything to stop it, because I really didn't understand what was happening, I told them I struggled and whatnot. He was imprisoned for like 35 to life and died very recently in prison. I thought his death was going to help me but in reality it made the thought of closure that much further away. I want to talk to him face to face and really understand what it was that made him that person to want to do such a thing to an innocent and undeserving child. These videos have been giving me very important insight into what could have motivated him to do these things. Anyways, I would like to add that my mom has fully recovered from drug abuse and we live together with my grandma. I never really blamed her for it because I understand that she feels sorry for what happened, but nonetheless, its hard to get over. I still live with the guilt and shame and never really open up to anyone about it. I hopefully will seek therapy in the future as I feel I am losing my mind.. (p.s the amount of anxiety before hitting the comment button is pretty high. But I feel like I needed to get this off of my chest one way or another.)

It makes my skin crawl when he says “I wish it never had to happen,” and when he calls it “sexual intercourse.” With your daughter, from age 6-14?! And her 9-yr-old friend? That is RAPE of a CHILD. There are many things in this interview that make it clear to me that he is not rehabilitated; he’s narcissistic, and all he wants is to get off probation. He does NOT seem “reformed” to me in any way. I see no remorse, no genuine empathy, and nothing but self-centeredness. Also, don’t let his age lull you into a sense of safety. This guy is 100% a danger to children. Old pedophiles hurt children all the time. He sidestepped the question re: whether he still has these desires. That’s because he does. He always will. He prefers children as much as a heterosexual woman prefers men. That’s what does it for him. I’m not trying to be cruel or to scare future interviewees. I’m just expressing my opinion, and calmly. It is my firm belief that pedophiles don’t change and that if they carry out pedophilic abuse on children, that they deserve the death penalty.

Thank you for posting this. I grew up in the 1960’s and 70’s and was sexually abused from the age of 2 through to 14. I also endured numerous sexual assaults and a rape in my 20’s and 30’s. It was difficult to listen to this man speak… but I appreciate his willingness to speak candidly about what he did to children. I have no idea how much true awareness he has, or how much awareness can ever be instilled in a pedophil, but I still believe that dialogue is important because what other option is there. My heart goes out to those he molested.

One of the residents seemed like a kind man and easy to talk to and when I mentioned it to a coworker they told me he molested his daughters. Likely an access thing. Rapist who molest girls tend to have less victim than those interested in boys but the percentage of population is similar for both. Main reason is access. A male wrestling coach for boys has way more chances than a male wrestling coach for girls. People are gonna wonder about a male teacher or coach disciplining a female student alone in a room, less so than with a male student. Wanna protect kids it starts with these kind of access, not attacking LGBT+ education meant to help keep gay kids from being thrown at the street and exploited. Lots and lots of nuanced stuff like this that allows adults to help kids but not exploit kids. I was sexually abused by my father between the ages of 5 and 11. I'm 61 years old now. Because of the abuse, I struggled throughout much of my life. Now I am finally happy and content. I think he stopped because he could see that I was getting old enough to realize that this was not normal and he became afraid. After age eleven, I just pretended like nothing ever happened because of the shame and the lack of resources available back then. We continued on as a 'normal' family. Eventually I revealed what had happened to my family and friends (I was 29, married and had three young sons at that time and could not stand the inner struggles any longer.) He did not deny it and everyone believed me. I was torn about doing this because I knew it would throw our whole family off kilter and devastate my mother. Unfortunately, that is what happened. I then decided not to see or speak with my father any longer. This went on for ten years. Then my brother became quite ill and lived at my parents' home, so I decided that I would put up with being around my father for his sake. Eventually, my father became elderly, sick with cancer and had to live the end of his life mostly unaware of what was going on around him because of the pain medication. I made him smoothies since he had a hard time eating solid food and I went to that facility several days a week to help him drink his smoothie and just sit with him until he died. I witnessed this once, strong intelligent person become a frail, helpless, suffering creature. I told him I forgave him and that he was free to go and shortly after that he took his last breath. Here's what I know. People who do this don't decide one day to become pedophiles. There is a significant disturbance, for whatever reason, in the brain of such a person. My father was one of eleven children. Who knows what happened to him during his childhood or what chemical imbalances he had. In other words, the people we want to hate are people we would be better off trying to understand. In that way, we can begin to put a stop to acts of abuse and violence. It is very difficult for any of us to have compassion for this type of illness, just as it's difficult for us to have compassion for serial killers or murderers or any other type of person who commits an unspeakable act. But if we are to move forward and become better humans, we have to try. We need to say as a society, if you are having feelings like this, if you are compelled to do things, you know are wrong, there is a place you can go and people who will help you to overcome it or at least help to find you a situation where you can not act on your impulses. Not only do they have to be better but WE have to be better as well.

​@@HassanZargari It's not really about teaching them to be wary but teaching them that it's ok to say "no" to anything that makes them uncomfortable and, as a parent/adult, respecting that decision. In this way they can understand their own autonomy and boundaries so that if someone does happen to cross that boundary, they know something isn't right and they feel the need to call it out. Kids will let you know they don't want physical touch/affection and I believe it's important that we respect them when they don't want to be touched. For example, my kid (1yr) is not a cuddler, so when I give hugs, kisses, etc. and she pushes me away, I don't continue and force the affection. And I make sure grandparents follow this as well. Whenever she's meeting new family, I don't just pass her off to whoever wants to hold her because I know my child is more comfortable getting to know the new person first before allowing them to touch/hold her and there's nothing wrong with that. Every child is different but each one does have their own set of boundaries and we shouldn't disregard those just because we're the adult and they're the child.

I’ve always found this to be very sad, interesting and complicated, but I am glad you’ve chosen to do this interview because we need to know why someone does something. I’m not sure that someone could be fully rehabilitated because I do think their brains are wired very differently from the rest of society. I once watched a documentary on a man who was attracted to children, but had never acted on it, and he was talking about his fears of doing something with a child, but having no where to go, and no one to turn to because you are automatically shunned from society. It really made me think about something I never thought of which was where does someone get help before they have committed a sexual crime? Do you have to be a sex offender to be able to go into these treatment centers or could you just be someone who has the thoughts? We really need to have more of these conversations. Also how can we pinpoint these things at an early age? Is there a sign when maybe they have never been victims of sexual abuse themselves? How does one become pedophile? We need to have compassion for both victim and predator as crazy as that sounds. Although he raped his daughter and sexually assaulted his neighbor, I will give him one credit, which is the fact that he came on here, and the fact that he has been open and honest with his neighbors. It's interesting how at 11:39 he completed avoided the question, and even after the interviewer specifically said "Beside the treatment, how have your thoughts changed?" he still went back to talking about how good that treatment center he went to. He's just trying to get off parole, he hasn't changed as a person, and I'm concerned he's still sexually abusing young girls due to the lack of empathy when he talks about what he did.

Prison gives people alot of time to brush up on their education. On another note, I see this sentiment alot here, but most of the people speaking aren't necessarily highly articulated in their verbal communication. I suppose most of us are more adjusted to casual slang and informal speech patterns as opposed to semi-formal speech in their day to day lives though. Being "well spoken" isn't necessarily indicative of high intelligence on its own, it's just proof of a basic high-school education

This one hit home for me, I watch these videos but never comment, I just lost my sister two years ago she was 34 yrs old and was severely depressed and suffered from anxiety her whole life. And turned to alcohol and drugs to cope with the pain she endured from my father and others sexually abused as a child. She opened up to me in the end before she passed about my father and uncle doing this to her. She said she forgave my father bcuz she felt he was sorry and told her as an adult he was. My father was her stepfather we have the same mother, she was my best friend not only sister and helped me in life so much coming out as gay. She was a beautiful soul and I had tried my best support her and always let her cry on me to let everything out. It was difficult on me as well the trauma knowing my father did this. Maybe one day I will seek help professionally bcuz I bottle all of this in. No one in my family really knew the extent my sister suffered but me bcuz we were so close and knew everything about each other. I’m focused on her daughter my niece who doesn’t have a mother now and making sure her life stays straight. These offenders are sick there is no cure. I love and miss you sister.

Thank you for giving the opportunity to share his story and share with others the dark side of the world that people do not shed light on. We need to be aware that offenders are all around us, to know It’s important that we are knowledgeable about those who have been convicted of such heinous crimes and if they are able to recover, or if they are forever a lost cause. Of course it can go both ways, and less are likely to recover without intensive therapy and willingness to acknowledge the evil acts that were committed. I was molested as a kid, and I often think about my offenders and what they thought about, if they felt shame, and if it was something they remember. I pray for myself and everyone who’s been taken advantage of and stripped from innocence at a very young age. I am still seeking therapy because I feel sick to my stomach at least once a day about being sexually offended as a kid by people I trusted.

My feelings are so conflicted on her video and situation because she did one of the most terrible things a human can, but knows it was horrible, doesn’t make excuses, and she has suffered through so so so much… Even sharing her story in hopes it will prevent further suffering like hers. It really shows that these things aren’t black and white. I’m happy her son is breaking the cycle and that they are able to be in touch now that she’s medicated and sober. This interview is very profound and Im very glad that althought the sad and violent perspective, the aware of this man now its a little light in the world for the people that have such a complex dark impulses.
