You are the first one I hear talking about the photos on the Sezane website, finally! Everybody raves about how dreamy the site is and I agree, it’s beautiful, but makes shopping very difficult and as you said, you end up with stilling details you didn’t expect. It’s deceptive. They should add more simple photos that truly depict the items.
@mademoisellejaime3 жыл бұрын
Yes exactly - would be great to have some basic product shots to complement their stylised lookbook imagery for sure!
@frenchstyle70383 жыл бұрын
I agree. Personally, I purchased once from them and never again... Sezane is a very big marketing machine in my opinion. The quality is not there. They have a very poor Customer Service as well. I had issues upon returning the item and because of the way they show their clothes, you do not see them clearly. The colors in particular, are not always accurate. I hate to say this because I do not buy from fast fashion brands anymore but I find their quality is often better.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on Sezane! I would say it is one of my favorite brands. However I agree with you on how it shows the pieces on the website, very difficult to get a sense of all the details. While they are beautiful photographs, I often get surprised (like you, sometimes good, others bad), on what they actually look like in real life. I ended up returning more than I would like to as a result.
@mademoisellejaime3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching Carrie! Yes, I feel like they do themselves a disservice as the backend work of processing returns would far outweigh the task of taking generic model shots for each item (I would have thought, anyway)! x

Wow I am surprised by your bad shopping experience because mine is just the opposite! I am not a regular Sezane shopper because I don't have the budget, but I am looking at what they offer regularly. And last year was my first ever purchase from them: after hours going in every corner of the website and putting like 10 items in my shopping cart, I rationalized what I could take out, this left me with only 2 jewelleries... What a surprise when few days later I receive a gigantic box! And inside: my rings, the gift cotton bag and ... a "white tomboy shirt in 36 (my size)" fitting PERFECTLY ! But this shirt is 85euros I got afraid I left it unintentionally in my cart, but when checking my account I just paid for my 2 rings! So basically a mistake on their side that made me win the !honestly! best shirt I ever wore in my life. 100% cotton, fit is amazing, and shit! I had it for free by mistake. It just made me wanting to order again!

I appreciate this video so much - I've had my eye on several Sezane pieces, and when you mentioned the company spraying scent on their garments that was a definite deal breaker for me. With so many people suffering from allergies to scents, I find it quite irresponsible for a company to do that! You've saved me time, money, disappointment, and an unpleasant health reaction!

So glad you found that useful Elizabeth. Definitely something I wish they would stop doing too (or perhaps just a simple opt-out at check out as from the comments, it sounds like a few people actually like the fragrance).

I dislike how the models they have are always severely reclined in chairs which makes it hard to see the pieces. And I agree for the price the use of synthetics is a bummer but I have let it go for a few pieces here and there. The sizing is also difficult for me across categories (sweater vs shirts for example). But the overall aesthetic is just so nice a feminine and detailed
@mademoisellejaime3 жыл бұрын
YES! This is such a thing, and while they look "effortlessly cool", it doesn't really give a good reflection of what the item *actually* looks like on. But agreed - that's one of the reasons why I think Ive been consistently drawn to the brand
@julijakeit3 жыл бұрын
yes! I ordered someting that looked a bit different and way too big for XS because their choice of pictures are so weird. I don't mind aesthetically placed promo picture but at least they should include one full frontal and backside of their products. Also, their sizing runs really too big, my size hasn't changed in 15 years but the label sizing I need get smaller and smaller!

Thank you for the review Jamie. Sezane is currently one of my favourite brands. I have run into some similar hurdles and appreciate hearing your experiences. I am in Canada and receive free shipping and returns as well. However, I am also charged taxes and duties which can be quite high (and need to be claimed separately when making a return). One thing I have been noticing (in tops and shirts) is that the Sezane sizing can tend to be a bit small, so I am sizing up. Thanks you for showing us your lovely pieces :)
@mademoisellejaime3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for sharing your experience Tanya! Are the taxes and duties not included in the price for you? When I browse their site and then checkout, I see a cost for taxes/duties but it's essentially just a granular breakdown of how the garment is priced on their product page. And I've had that experience too. There doesn't seem to be 100% consistency in the sizing so I'm often a little hesitant to know which would be the best one. I've definitely gotten this wrong in the past! x
@tanyac99103 жыл бұрын
@@mademoisellejaime unfortunately taxes and duties are calculated at the time the item crosses the border into Canada. Sometimes only taxes are changed and sometimes both ... that is great if they are already calculated for you before you buy the item. (Everlane does this and also refunds them for Canada).
@frenchstyle70383 жыл бұрын
@@tanyac9910 Tanya, I am also in Canada and I find that very frustrating as well. When I buy from other brands, they don't charge duties separately. This makes things complicated when you have to return the item, which I have to do. I made some research in Canada and it seems that the merchants would be obliged to add the amount to the purchase so that the customer knows exactly what it will cost. I am now trying to get this amount refunded as I had to return the cardigan which looked very cheap to me. For that price and all the trouble, never again.

Great to see a review covering the issue with man-made fibres. You can't claim to be sustainable when so much is polyester:) Even recycled poly can emit micro-particles into the water system when washed. Also, really helpful to give the context of sizing.

I agree with all you said! I bought the Gaspard jumper in ecru last fall, and I was happy... so I made an order for an 100% recycled viscose skirt from the winter collection (Elie skirt with a leopard imprint to try a little pattern while keeping my colour scheme, since my wardrobe is really neutral and patterns free) and I felt that the process was really weird. The skirt came with a knot belt that was not on the photos... and soaked into perfum (which I just don’t even use anymore at all for environmental and healthy reasons). Then I had this code for a discount and free express shipping that they sent to me on my last order, and the code was not working... they were just asking me to send them proofs, and printscreens, and photos of the code... and would never solve the problem. It took almost 2 weeks for them to solve this and in the end they charged me the express shipping anyway (and which I actually did not need in the first place... I was just using the discount code....so in the end, after all the maths, no discount!) XD what a weird experience...
@mademoisellejaime3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! That sounds like so much work from your end to actually get the skirt. I do wish that they would have simple "ghost" images or regular angles of the models in their items as I feel like it'd make shopping from the brand a lot easier. That and spritzing perfume all over their orders - it's quite off-putting I feel! xx

Morning Jamie! Agree with so many things you've mentioned: - I feel the same about the viscose issue - I bought this really beautiful & expensive dress in Paris and after I hand washed it, it was completely ruined - I was heartbroken!! - Stripes - I have the same addiction LOL - Sezane photos - whilst beautiful, I find them impractical & hard to really assess the clothing fit etc. which makes me hesitant to buy them. Lucky they offer free shipping & returns now. Thanks for the helpful video!! Have a lovely week ahead :)

Great review - I love their fragrance! Some of their silk tops are among my favourites. But I really do think they could do more with their choice of fabrics. I get really excited about a blouse and then click on the composition and it's recycled polyester. I mean, come on. That's still polyester. I wish their knits were higher quality fabrics. Like The Curated.
@mademoisellejaime3 жыл бұрын
I think it's great to see man-made fibres (which don't break don't for hundreds of years) getting a new lease on life and I completely understand that this process can be labour/time/cost intensive so I am willing to pay as long as it's done well. The other thing I try to keep in mind is that poly is sometimes used blended into fabrics for certain structure/shape/so an item sits a certain way. That aside, I do find it frustrating when you see a poly blouse (recycled or not) and a silk blouse on their site retailing for the same amount. I personally have always viewed silk as a premium/luxury fabric and more expensive. And would love to hear your thoughts on The Curated knits. I've been eyeing them up for the past year!

Thank you for the video! You hit the nail on the head about shipping, returns etc etc being issues with foreign brands. I live in the USA and have experienced it with brands like Holland Cooper, Polene Paris etc. it’s so expensive to send products back if you don’t like it or it doesn’t fit etc. I’m glad these brands are considering free shipping and returns. Thanks again ❤️

When you live in Europe and want to buy American brands it's the same. And returns are a nightmare..
@lmn52333 жыл бұрын
I can imagine! I am being very careful and reading the fine print after my experience with Polene Paris (return UPS charge $60) andHolland Cooper (return charge by US postal service $39 for one sweater). I check to see if you can return to a US address like Reiss etc. I try not to get tempted even if I’m influenced by KZbin. I wish influencers would work with brands and push them to offer free return shipping if needed.
@mademoisellejaime3 жыл бұрын
I think the other consideration is also the taxes/duties charged on more expensive purchases too. Some brands will refund this for you, but others don't and the follow up can be a huge pain! I can understand why smaller brands might not offer free returns as it can be quite expensive. So I sometimes wish those more "popular" small brands had locally based retailers (ie. wholesaling their product) which would mean you could easily return if there were any issues.

Oh I have shopped with sezane for so long. If it weren't for the products, I would have stopping shopping with them a long time ago as their service has gone so horrible. There were orders being canceled without an apology, orders lost in mail or misplaced, ordered arrived with tapes open and stuff tossed in without a package... As an US customer, I am lucky to have good return service and customer service in general. Sezane would be 2 or lower on my rating in terms of customer service. Apart from logistics and service, their photos are filtered and outfits are styled. They charge a stupid poly dress for more than 200 usd... But they sometimes get the pieces so right that I just love. It is a very love and hate relationship.

Thank you so much! So I feel like the jeans fit pretty true to size. I am a "small" size 26 in jeans (all other brands) and I opted for the 26 in this style. Aside from the extra fabric around the upper thigh area, they fit pretty well. They don't have any give so if you're in-between sizes I would recommend going with the larger of the two.

I have the opposite problem, I am a XS and their XS is too huge! They suppose to be French (European) company but their sizing is more like US as American sizing has been inflated in 80s to make people assume they're not as overweight as they really are. Sadly, European brands are adopting this model of vanity too lately.

The point of the Sezane perfume is so divisive. Many customers missed it when in some orders they stopped spraying it. Personally, I'm in the camp that loves opening the boxes and smelling the perfume, making the experience more special. But I also get some people do not enjoy that part.
@mademoisellejaime3 жыл бұрын
I must have completely missed that entire saga - personally I just found it strange when I opened the box only to smell heavy fragrance (which I didn't like) - it made me feel like someone had worn the item and heavily doused themselves in perfume, before returning it to the brand. But agree it's totally a personal thing, and whether you like it or not will be largely dependant on your fragrance preferences xx

I purchased Laeticia boots from them. The individual pieces that the sole was made of, were not properly aligned before being glued together: one of the pieces' corners is sticking out on the side of the right shoe and a couple of gaps are large enough to see glue between the individual pieces. Also, a thin layer of glue came out from under both heels after wearing the boots for a couple of hours (I assume excess glue was pushed out by the weight pressure). None of that is noticable for other people, but I was still upset since I payed $250 for the boots.

The first one come in a close second. P.S wasn't a fan of the jeans, especially compared to the dark ones you wore with the black top :)

Thank you so much Gayane! The Ronnie top truly is something special isn't it? It's still a bit warm in Sydney to wear it right now but very excited to start wearing it once it cools down. And the jeans look great on the models, but just the totally wrong cut for my body shape - denim is so hard to shop isn't it? The ones I was wearing in the cutaways are the authentic stretch from Everlane. Insanely comfortable! xx

@@mademoisellejaime it's hard to find proper jeans indeed. With all the quarantines/lock-downs i am stuck with just 2 pairs i bought 3.5 years ago, as it seems i can't find a pair that fits me properly in the stores we have here 😅

Curious why you quote prices in US dollars instead of Euro when talking about a French brand?
@mademoisellejaime2 жыл бұрын
Now they have an Australian website (so all prices are in AUD), but when I was buying before that, all the prices were in USD for shoppers based in Australia :)

Totally agree with the stylized photos. Maybe a bit less would be more realistic

Would just be nice to get simple product shots - front, side and back! :)

I totally agree about the photos. I really dislike them. However, the perfume thing- it made me buy the fragrance! 🤦🏻♀️

In general, I think Sezane products are overpriced, just because they have a good marketing strategy with very good selling images. And like you I don't like the Parfum in the clothes.

I think for the most part, you're right for sure. I have one of their organic cotton tees and it's the most expensive t-shirt I own. The silk pieces I find pretty reasonably priced and on par with similar brands but the fact that their polyester pieces are quite expensive always throws me off!

Haha ohhh you're too kind. I'm pear shaped so tend to be more petite up top and then I carry more weight around my bum and hips xx
