As much as I dislike how he’s run this organization, I do believe in his draft prowess. Between Ramos, Harrison, Bailey, and Eldridge, he sure has a great eye for talent.

I am pretty neutral. I don't think he is bad, but his record of development is pretty horrible which I put way more stock in since especially in baseball where drafting is so unreliable especially in the first round you have to have a great development staff and pathways to put draftees in the best possible position to succeed.

I am very bearish on Zaidi and hope he is shown the door. That said, it is very true that getting a new GM/PoBO comes with a lot of problems and this is where I have to levy major criticisms against Greg Johnson specifically and the Ownership group as a whole because THEY are the ones who wants everything under the sun but are in no way willing to pay what that costs, be in money or in other ways. How is the team supposed to thrive when their brains suffer from bipolar disorder? P.S. I am sure that Zaidi already knows his fate and is just lying about it. He speaks like our politicians today, liars through and through but easy enough to see through if you know how and what to look for.

I agree Farhan has made some mistakes but I think he’s done a good job drafting. A lot of them are now coming up to the bigs and making some noise in the bigs which is why they are finishing strong. I think the mistake was hiring Bob Melvin and not Stephen Vogt because he energized the Guardians this year and Bob Melvin really didn’t this year. Look at what Melvin did with the Padres last year and what the Padres are doing this year, enough said. I like Melvin but he has lot his touch with the players. I hope he takes the off season to reset and have a fresh approach in 2025. Farhan was not the issue here and I don’t feel he should lose his job at this time. He got the right free agents in Chapman, Snell and Hicks in the off season with Ray and Soler being the duds. Lee was energy to the team before we lost him and others to injuries. Injuries and energy derailed the season but I think they can get this right if Bob Melvin can bring his energy and lead this team in 2025. If they don’t make a move in 2025, then you clean house with the entire staff. Go Giants!
@user-jv9qz2bu1r2 ай бұрын
Doval will not be closing in 2025 they are already better off. All those 9th inning meltdowns sucked the life out of the team. See also Estrada, Flores, and Soler coming up empty time after time with runners on base. These tings are not on Melvin. A handful of players severely underperformed. Add Slater, I was a fan of his, but he has lost it. I would prefer Farhan stay and help run the draft. In 6 years he never made any trades, deadline trades or otherwise, to get either young prospects or established players like Pence who Sabean traded for.

@@user-jv9qz2bu1r can’t blame him for not getting those guys. They don’t want to come here. We never needed sluggers to win championships. We need pitching, defense and guys that have a good approach at the plate. The guys we have now have low on base percentages and just want to hit homers. It’s an all or nothing approach that has been taught by the coaches. We need to get back to what got it done in 2010, 2012 and 2014.

We need to remember that Zaidi has a history of lying. Although I could be wrong, he may have been informed about the board's decision and just does not want to share about that. That is a major reason I stopped being a Giants fan because of Zaidi's lies. Meanwhile, I am thrilled about the Padres clinching a playoff spot last night and they may take the division from the Dodgers. Meanwhile Blake Snell probably wishes he was going to pitch again with the Padres in the playoffs.

You get Goldschmidt on a 2 year deal until Bryce comes up. Fitz at 2nd and your big splash, SS ADAMES, Chapman at 3rd. I cannot figure right field out. I'd keep Encarnacion as DH and a fourth outfielder. Left is Ramos, Center is Lee. Catcher is Bailey. I say keep Yaz. We aren't getting Soto. Yaz numbers wise, looks good and plays right at Oracle well. You could platoon him and McCray. Schmitt, Luciano and Wisely are the trade pieces. Wade, Flores, Estrada gone. Andrew Vaughn at 1st is better than Hoskins imo. However, both those guys are not needed with Eldridge close. That's why a short contract with Paul G makes sense to me.

Zaidi's engaging in a rebuild. He used one winning season of 107 wins to gain credibility from a team he inherited to gut this organization of past remnants and rely on his rookies and older platoon players on the mlb roster. He doesn't want established position players as FA's that could block the play time of minor leaguers he wants on the mlb roster despite his roster's inability to score consistently or make playoffs consistently.
@scoremat2 ай бұрын
@@michaelmartinez3500 the way he attempts to "develop" young talent is criminal. FarFlop has consistently robbed ABs from young players during another wasted season in SF... for what??? Why would he give ABs to Ahmed, Canha, Encarnacion, D Walton etc etc etc This is why no one wants to play for him and he has to overpay anyone that will. Total and complete failure; if this is the result of 6yrs of a Fahran Zahdi rebuild why are we talking
@michaelmartinez35002 ай бұрын
@@scoremat Ahmed brought in for his defense and beats out Luciano, in ST, but hypocritical Zaidi didn't want Crawford to do it. Canha was a half-hearted move to platoon with Wade Jr to sooth Melvin's nostalgic feelings after struggling with Tigers. Encarnacion brought in to DH, in 2hd half, despite appearance it was Luciano's job only for fans to get psyched. This guy's an awful DH and platooned with Conforto. Walton played 2nd to move weak Wisely to SS when Fitz got injured. This losing formula is what Giants call "development." Did Ramos need development? NO, he NEEDED to PLAY consistently.

Farham Zaidi is in a city that a lot of players do not want to live in, has a ballpark that many hitters don't want to play in, not the biggest budget in the division, and they are in a state that taxes everything that can possibly be taxed. Yet, he has landed some good players, drafted at a much higher level than his predecessors, and at least done an average job in the international talent market. Give the poor guy a break.

I think players enjoy living in SF. I enjoy it a ton when I visit. I think your letting media narratives that most players don't think about cloud your judgement. And if the ballpark dissuades hitter from signing, shouldn't that attract pitchers to sign?
