What's Next SF: Fire Boat Station 35

The City of San Francisco is constructing a new floating Fireboat Station No. 35 at Pier 22 1/2 behind historic Fire House 35. The existing two piers are inadequate to meet the San Francisco Fire Department's public service and water rescue needs. The new Fireboat Station is being built on top of a steel float and anchored by six guide piles, which will allow it to rise and fall with the tide and projected up to six feet of Sea Level Rise. San Francisco Fire Department's three fireboats and rescue watercraft will be moored at the new floating facility. The new floating station will be situated adjacent to the existing historic fire station and will be connected by vehicular and pedestrian ramps. Right off the bat, I question the wisdom of contracting out the construction of the float, to a Chinese company. It could have been designed and built right here in the U.S., or at least in a country friendly to us. Where you spend your money, matters.

Doing a simple search finds the answer instead of stereotyping just because you hear China in the sentence ==> The Federal government has restrictions on in-water construction with limitations to only summer months in the United States, thus they had to outsource the manufacturing of the barge to a shipyard in Shanghai China.. @@barefooboy17 he can't do it. he will buy something that says made in USA and not research the parts inside that were actually made in China lol. he probably owns an American car not knowing parts in it are also made in China. in fact, it doesn't matter what kind of vehicle he owns if any, there are parts in it made in China. lol... he probably doesn't remember when COVID-19 hit China and they stopped all the factories, car manufacturers worldwide were also at their mercy because they needed parts from China.. replacement parts and aftermarket auto parts for a lot of older and newer vehicles are made from China (there's a comparison chart showing which countries are most reliant on auto parts from China at: (Google Search: "Statista, U.S. Car Industry Most Reliant on Chinese Parts")
