Wow - another great episode of 'Madigan'. What a BRILLIANT 70's tv series starring Richard Widmark who is perfectly cast.

To have Val Avery and Charles Cioffi in the same production is a woefully underappreciated national treasure.

Richard Widmark as Madigan makes his mark in his own irrepressible manner . Nice to watch this retro cop show .

At the end, it was the legendary Bill Hickman, the ultimate wheel man from LA, driving the chase cab for Madigan. He was James Dean's partner up to his death in Cholame, CA. He was instrumental in the auto chases of 'Bullet', 'Seven-ups' and 'French Connection'.

I remember when this series ended. It was reported in one of the tabloids at the time that Richard Widmark pulled out of the project because his long time fans thought the hard boiled Madigan character was bad for his image. Bill Hickman, the cab driver in the chase scene, also drove the hit-man running from Steve McQueen in Bullet. Thanks for the upload.

Dean Hargrove was an excellent producer of great shows with excellent actors. I only wish that it would have gone on like Columbo did for Richard Links. Richard Widmark deserved his own show. Obviously at the same time John Wayne and other western starrs were doing the police detective rolls. Stephen J. Cannell was writing Adam-12 an episode here and one there got help from Dragnet man Jack Joe Friday Webb. Ultimately Andy Griffith was glad to get produced by Dean Hargrove for certain in Mattlock.

God how gritty and sleazy was new York and times Square in the 60s....gotta love the gruff realism of a lost time.

The series never touch the gritty of the movie. The scripts were poorly written, especially the ones where he went overseas. Plus couldn’t accept the dead rising from the dead, since Madigan was killed in the movie. But actors have to work.

What "gritty movie" (title/year) are you referring to? Thanks! @Michaelbos
@InACountryGarden9 ай бұрын
@@makemoneyonlinenow145 They mean the original film that inspired this TV series. It's also named 'Madigan', and was released a few years earlier, in 1968. It starred Richard Widmark, with Henry Fonda as his cop boss, & Harry Guardino as his cop partner.
