Dude, thanks so much for providing us with this tutorial! I've been looking for tutorials on lighting, but none of the others actually explain what the role of Key light, Rim light and Fill/Bounce light are supposed to be. This is such great help. =)

Dont' know if this was mentioned, but a good tip is to drag the light (from the list) into the viewport, so you can control the Light via "FPS Style" like camera. Helps to have it on a secondary viewport, so you get instant feedback on the main viewport (camera)

Sometimes, longer tutorials tend to actually make you explain more, explaining more can help others know what to do and what not to do, especially not having them watch it like 10 times on the same day when its going by really fast. You did really well with this tutorial, make some more if ya get the chance.

You can drag the light from the animation panel right into the viewport to edit it "like" a camera. But i think you might know that by now^^

sweet. thanks for the lesson. I usually drag/drop my lights into the Work Camera area and fly it around like a camera for positioning.

Great tutorial, I've forgotten how much really goes into lighting and its significance. Also, I wanted to know if you would know why Volumetrics won't work for some people. I've enabled them in the element viewer, but it won't cause that fog effect. I suspect it's because it says that I don't have the minimum graphics requirements to run the SFM, but I can use basic lighting and make animations and posters. Any thoughts, please?

huge tip for lighting: drag your light source into a viewport and navigate it like the work camera. works way easier to focus on a specific position!

Maybe that version of SFM didn't have it or something, or maybe he didn't want to use it (or maybe he didn't know)

Alright, question for you. How would you do like head on shots? Like I have one where the camera is centered, and everyone is looking towards it (a little like the TF2 group shot, but they cave around the camera more). I don't see how I could use these 3 lighting set up here (And I need something since the chair on the ground still looks a little light hovering above the ground)

so im hoping you can help me. when i app a light it says it is there i can move it around but the light itself does not appear. what ever my camera is pointing at it stays the same with no brightness at all

Thank you very much for this tutorial! It helped a lot! Before this, I was like "oh I'll gonna use so many lights and use volumetrics EVERYWHERE". Well this was wrong ^^
