I surely wish we had found this content sooner. I have a grandson in PI bootcamp as I type. Upon graduation he will become a fourth generation Marine for our family, I can not validate the service records of the family Marines preceding myself, but for myself and my youngest and oldest sons we were all Air Dales (Air Wingers). My grandson wanted no part of that aviation legacy schiff. He was and is all gung-ho for 03XX. Although I was a pretty damned gung-ho Marine and attained E-5 just two weeks shy of two years active duty, I have never felt overly proud since I was a "tweener". (1975-1979 between any and all conflicts). I'd have stayed in the Corps except for a notable crossing of paths with a certain local judge in Beaufort SC (long but entertaining story). So i got out and was eventually rescued by the greatest president of the United States in August 1981 (Air Traffic Controller strike). Thank you Ronald Reagan wherever you are, All that said the Master Gunnery Sargant's words of wisdom would have been helpful a couple months ago.
