KD didn't prove himself in Golden State because he had no real chance to lose in Golden State. He performed great, but he could've played average and the result wouldn't have changed. There was no pressure in regards to losing or failing. You could've swapped any superstar in place of KD and the Warriors still win. He has to prove himself outside of GS. Getting swept in the 1st rd is not the "same outcome" as getting swept later in the playoffs. If you get swept in the Finals, it came after you won 3 playoff series (including a conference championship series). You can't ignore the accomplishment. A 3-1 payoff series record (that ended with you getting swept) is not the same outcome as a 0-1 playoff series record (that ended with you getting swept).
@chadbinette32012 жыл бұрын
Agreed, not to mention every round of the playoffs gets tougher and better competition. LeBron getting swept in the finals is a testament to LeBron DRAGGING some of those Cavs teams to the finals. And the 2018 finals I still see lebron making that face to Jr Smith like "what the f... you thinkn" And I'm not a lebron fan at all but I'm not gonna deny him be great, him being an all time great. In years past Im sure #7 or #8 seeds have been swept in the first round, but probably not with 2 all-nba players and quite a few other very good players. Though past thier prime, Blake Griffin was the face of a team for years, Dragic was Miami heat leading scorer when they went to the bubble finals just 2 years ago, Seth curry played pretty well in this series, believe he had a couple 20point games and let's not forget the Ronald McDonald impersonator Ben Simmons, with all that, this sweep falls on Durant and kryie, your Max players and to have 4 games in a row of not being able to get it together. Kyrie played his best in game 1 and Durant played his best in game 4, both had 39 points in thier respective "best " game I think? Ironically. Even though it took Durant 31 shots to get 39 points, and that was with 10 free throws? Maybe more. Either way they are both considered top 20-25 players no matter how you rank them, Durant being a top 5 player a worst.

KD was a luxury not a necessity. The warriors wouldn’t win those 2 rings without him and he was never gone make the finals without them. However he needed them more than they needed him cuz they already made 2 finals and win a ring before him and we seeing how they look now they healthy. That 73-9 team was already great they jus needed another great player to replace Harrison Barnes

@@3rdCoastAlliance Actually I think it was injury insurance. Steph Curry the year before the got KD was hampered in the finals from a nagging injury. He was a step slower then he should have been. This is not to take any credit away from the Cavs for coming back from down 3-1 and winning that title because they locked in, focused and played great the last three games to do what they had to to get that win. Adding KD meant if Steph or Klay goes through a stretch where they are injured or need some rest then they can get it without it greatly sacrificing the team's chances of success.

I love how Wiley ALWAYS ignores that KD and that OKC team lost to Steph and the Warriors prior to the Warriors giving up a 3-1 lead to Lebron in the Finals. Outside of his controversial GS years, he's achieved nothing in terms of appearances and rings that isn't historically bad; ie: losing a 3-1 lead in the Finals and getting swept by a young Boston team in the first round when his own team was at near-full health. The fact that KD has proven time and time again that he can't win a ring on his own, nor get close to winning a ring without HOFers around him (or future HOFers like Harden and Westbrook back in OKC) is a constant reminder that he doesn't have much of a legacy other than being one of the most versatile scorers in NBA history.
