Speaking of being a child, I should’ve questioned this game as a youngling, but I didn’t. I hate how this was my first 3D Sonic game, but at the same time, it’s part of the reason why I’m a Sonic fan in the first place. Sonic Advance 1 is what started it. So I guess I owe it to this game for that, but only half-heartedly. 4:27 The game hasn’t started yet and there is already rage. This’ll be good. 9:46 That justification disregards people who can still control themselves even when skating. Even without that, Shadow’s skates are strong enough to lift himself into the air. With this in mind Shadow would have more control over himself than he would with normal skates. 19:08 Now you know how Elliot feels.

About the 5 key doors, what's behind them is different for each stage. Some of them may have weapons/vehicles behind them, others may contain shortcuts. One in particular I remember was in the stage Cosmic Fall, behind the door is a switch which activates a bunch of light dash ring trails that make the rest of the level really easy. Perfect for FINDING THE COMPUTER ROOM!

Oh, here's a tip to make things less annoying. Pressing either up or down on the D pad (one of those but I forget which) will have Shadow default back to the "Neutral" mentality, so his partner will disappear and stop yelling every 20 seconds.

+Wexdarn Yes, you can use the D-pad instead of pausing every time. You can even press down on the D-pad to turn helpers off even in stages where Neutral isn't a mission choice (i.e. Digital Circuit, Lethal Highway, Central City, Death Ruins, and every Stage 6).

Jon, I'm not sure about the gamecube version, but the xbox version has an easier way to change mission, you can press left right or down on the D-pad to switch to the villain, hero or neutral missions respectively, but the hero and dark missions only work after you've seen their character once in that stage.

I mean *all* the space levels, when you die from bottomless pit, you *burn in the atmosphere!!* and when Shadow was falling, he was *Super Shadow* so he had the power of the seven chaos emeralds and hmm. *CHAOS CONTROL!!* So when he damn disappears in that cutscene, it wasn't an anime twinkle or anything, it looked like a chaos control! I can see Sonic & co. thinking he died, because I assume Super Sonic was busy shouting one-liners at the corpse of the Final Hazard (Which... WHY did the lizard shove the God damn eclipse cannon up its ass and drag it downwards to earth? How do you even write that?) Like, it would have made far more sense if Shadow appeared at the stinger and just started wandering the earth, and in Heroes or better yet *this game* it starts out with him being a dirty hobo samurai and he has to decide now that he fulfilled Maria's wish... what does *he* want? There was no reason for the damnesia.

+The T.C. Because now that he keped his promise he can die in peace & reunite with Maria, so there was really no reasion for him to want to save himself anyways. Also as he's falling he still has his bracelets which Sonic brings back, meaning Sonic would need to find Shadows body to get it. (Unless the winkle was Eggman using the almighty power of SCIENCE! to save him & plant a bracelet to trick Sonic which now is the more likely cannon.) So if Eggman didn't save him that would have been his death regardless if he could save himself or not.

It's both complicated and idiotic, which I guess doesn't matter cuz the next game retconned the series, then Unleashed retconned again, and I guess? Colors is a retcon, but by then all the lore was thrown out the window so why bother.

Because without it there's no way Shadow would have survived anyways with there being no reason for him to want to continue living until he forgets about everything & wants to remember it thus getting deeper bonds with the other characters. You either die a hero, or live long enough to give Johny a baaad time.

hey johhny, u can switch back between the missions by clicking the up directional button on the controller. Left is for dark mission and right is for hero story; if my memory is right.

I usually wait for your playthroughs to be finished before I start, but I just couldn't resist here XD let the rage begin! Personally though, I like playing through this game every now and then. Some of the levels, like the race against Sonic and the final Pure Hero level, are a lot of fun, and I loved shaping the story as a kid, since this was the first game I played that let me do that. Personally though, the Pure Hero ending is what I consider to be canon (though in my first play through, I got Anti-Hero-Villain by mistake XD). Always imagined Super Sonic and Super Shadow teaming up to destroy the Black Comet after taking out Back Doom.
