+NickonAquaMagna if the picture was from sonic heroes, sonic, knuckles and tails would have been in the picture, not shadow because it was sonic knuckles and tails who defeated metal sonic. it was clearly intended to be a picture from when sonic and shadow beat the bio lizard but it would have been impossible to take the picture as shadow fell to the earth and was assumed dead. the developers screwed up so hard because shadow has memory loss and cant remember what happened in sa2 so why would he have even been in that picture if he did not know he saved the world? its like your friend saying to you that you were the president of America 10 years ago and then they take a picture of you and you just role with it. then you go around the city showing your picture to everyone and saying: hey look I was the president 10 years ago, when in actual fact you were just going along with what your friend said to you even though he could have been lying. so because shadow could not remember saving the world but the president told shadow to stand in the picture, how would he know the president was telling the truth? the president could have lied to him.

So, I actually own a strategy guide for this game (for some reason). The Check Points give rewards based on how many you pass without dying. They start at 10 rings, and by the 5th start giving Extra Lives. I also wonder if Sega did any real Q&A with their writers. Everyone always jabs at the gameplay functions, but shit like this with Sky Troops is something a High School student would catch proof-reading their Fanfiction.

Chaos Control doesn't drop you off a pit if the gauge runs out over a bottomless pit. The Chaos Control directs you to the nearest platform and drops you off there.

If you pick up an additional weapon of the same type you're using the ammo gets added on to your current ammo count. I used to play this a lot more recklessly than Johnny, and still kept my favored gun longer. Also, you can use the D-pad to change paths quicker (left=evil, right=good, down=neutral)

Ik I'm 3 years late and John probably already knows this by now but Shadow the Hedgehog was not only created specifically for the western audience but also because they had received a lot of fan mail, mainly from children and such, wanting a Sonic game where he holds a gun. Iizuka and Naka obviously didn't want their iconic mascot associated with fire arms YET they still thought maybe it would be a bit more appropriate for Shadow the Hedgehog due to his massive popularity in the Sonic universe and because of him being written as the "darker" version of Sonic. When you really dig deeper, Shadow was apparently inspired by movies like Underworld and Terminator and went through a number of concept art before eventually settling with his more iconic design. Hell, one character design even has a character missing an eye. Ya know?

Sky Troops IS Glyphic Canyon. The Dark mission of that stage is activated all of those flotation spheres or whatever. So yeah, they basically reused the stage.

It's actually entirely possible to fall down the bottomless pit while fading to white. Keep going fast 'till you have enough momentum, and jump right when you get to the goal ring. You can do this in glyphic canyon too, since it's exactly the same, though you won't die either way.

Glyphic canyon and skytroop is one in the same, because the evil mission for Glyphic canyon, you are told to activate some jewels that spin or whatever, and in skytroop, Egg man asks you to destroy the jewels that look near exactly like the one in glyphic canyon so in a way they are one and the same.

john to answer question, yes you can jump thru the goal ring with enough momentum and you can fall off. with the amount of times ive played this game ive done it plenty of times. also you don't have to go to the pause menu to switch or get rid of your "buddy", you can use the dpad with down for neutral, left for evil and right for hero.

Agreeing with Johnny on the gun gameplay. It really doesn't fit, but its not bad, and it feels obvious which ones were auto aim and which you had to manually aim. I get reminded of Jak and Daxter, when the second game came out they introduced guns and edge. It was just the angsty teen years for video games. Only difference Jak and Daxter put more thought into having guns, Shadow didn't. By all intensive purposes Shadow can be called another Sonic game, just gun DLC put in if you were bored of homing attacks.

Shadow the Hedgehog should have only had 3 different pathways, hero, villain and neutral and all of them have different levels except from the first one, where you make your choice. All 3 pathways have totally different endings and then afterwards shadow is never in any sonic game again so it is up to the player what happened to him. I don't know if you know this but if your using a GameCube controller that mini pad that you barely use if you press the down button I think on it, it will put you back on the neutral path if you want to switch quickly without pressing the start button to switch paths. great video by the way love your videos.

The gun play isn't a work around, homing attacking works as well as it did in heroes, it's a way to give enemies health bars without slowing the game down because a good gun can take them down, and also a way to make it look cool and edgy, it doesn't fit the tone but it works and I likes it

Hey johnny, you dont actully have to switch mission characters whenever a new one comes in, you can complete the missions either one without them present, so you can complete neutral missions with the hero or dark characters out or vice versa. Hope this helps!

For the curious, If you do a hero mission or a dark mission, the score under the OPPOSITE meter DETRACTS from your ranking. So if you do a hero mission but have to kill a bunch of the hero-aligned enemies (who keep attacking Shadow even if you do the Hero mission, btw), the score under the red meter would SUBTRACT from your other Points, lowering your rank.

Johnny, I might be wrong about this, but this is just a tip. I think you can switch between hero and dark missions with the directional buttons, instead of pausing the game and switching there. I think I did it back on the PS2, so don't quote me on this.

Chaos Control will never drop you off in a pit as it's programmed to drop you off on the nearest platform if you are above a pit (something you can abuse in Space Gadget to win the race against Sonic)

Sky Troop would make a lot more sense as part of the dark path considering John didn't activate the magic alien space gems (roll with it), but I guess eventually BD just decided to have his men who were standing right by the generators eventually activate them (cue the newground parody of this game). I might be the only person that says this, but screw Shadow I'd rather play a battlefront style game with Eggman's fleet blowing up the aliens that seems like a much more fun idea.

I can't believe people are still saying that the hero and dark missions are annoying. They are not really as hard as they think, especially when you find all 5 keys in each stage.

+CrazyFoo501 some of those missions include 2 - 3 extra enemies just in case (Westopolis is an example). The only stages I found annoying were Maria's. The best way to handle The Doom with her is using the heal gun (Black Doom's mission shouldn't be that hard), and on Lost Impact use that and the grenade launcher. The best way to handle all the "kill them all" stages is to take your time and have a good memory where everything is if you are going for those A ranks.

There's been an explanation going around claiming that the reason shadow the hedgehog has guns was because the fans were clamouring to include them in the games. Some research on that however reveals that this was requested way back in SA's early development which can explain Gamma. So I wonder if that was partly the reason they decided to go with guns in shadow. If so I guess we really have no one else to blame but ourselves.

+Fractorification Some fans may of wanted guns, but it's extreme doubtfully that most fans wanted them, or at best they wanted character like Gamma or Egg-walker again, and to no give one of their main characters realistic firearms. Especially in regards to the Sonic fans.

Sky troops definitely feels like it's in the wrong place in the level layouts, you seem friendly with black doom when you have been ignoring not him (unless getting the emeralds at all counts since he asked for them?) and you had a level just like it on a main path 2 levels ago

To what they said about the Chaos Control docking you over and making you fall in a pit or something. I've had instances where I ran out half way or 3/4 the way over a pit and it just finishes the gap.
