You can pretty much sum up the Hidden World as “Look at all these level concepts we never used.” I wouldn’t be surprised if these were concept levels to help pitch the game and they didn’t want them to go to waste so they just touched them up and made it extra content.

It's very telling how creative this era, let alone this game, was for the Sonic franchise that Eggman is still the final boss even though he was betrayed by another malevolent force serving as the big bad and said final boss is literally the Colors final boss with a different skin slapped on it. I think one thing that's important to acknowledge about this game regarding its reception is that it was the first mainline Sonic game after Generations (unless you count Sonic 4 Episode 2 and idk if anyone does). And a lot of Sonic fans consider Generations to be one of the best. So, going from Generations, which took great advantage of the gameplay loop that is the boost formula and released on multiple platforms, to Lost World, which was a Nintendo exclusive for a couple years before the Steam rerelease and often gets complaints that it feels too Mario-esque, probably put it in a much worse light than it really should have.

@@okagron No, I agree with Molly though. I would VERY much prefer to play Shadow the Hedgehog. Sure, it's not perfect, but it's still very much more enjoyable than having to suffer through Lost World. If it wasn't for Boom and Forces, both versions of Lost World would be at the top of my most disliked Sonic games. Horrendously excecuted game with little to no good things about it. At least Shadow's game has a kickass OST and some of the levels are pretty good... whereas here, in Lost World, there's barely any noticable or memorable music or ANY good level either.

I think they have straight up 06'ed the Master Emerald and forgor. It hasn't been relevant to the plot in any meaningful way with Chaos Emeralds, even in Frontiers where there lore gets explored.

the hidden worlds are basically a showcase of how much lost world as a whole is just sonic at it's most experimental(especially with the tornado stages that should've been in the flying stages instead making more sense with how sonic & tails repair the tornado that they could've used/do love tail's theme playing as i love both versions of believe in myself.) to it's detriment of not much of value/consistency(that "pac-man if he ate the super bell with a allergic reaction to it"/that awesome 3rd stage that could've done more with though with sonic can see lives giving a good incentive for rings whereas in mario coins really outside odyssey don't have a real motivation to go after alongside mario games being easier.) to it other than just causing another dark age for sonic with boom(outside the cartoon) being it's most abysmally bleak.

Since we are at the final episode, I mentioned that the 3DS version is better, but I mentioned the bosses, so for this final part, let me rapid fire a few note worthy changes [thank god for wiki helping with info] -Wisps the Ivory lighting and Grey quake are exclusive on the Nintendo 3DS version, with the burst wisp if I recall On the Wii U version of the game, there is only one Color Power per Zone, but on the Nintendo 3DS version there can be more per Zone -Special stage and super sonic In the 3DS, super sonic is obtained in the Classic sonic way, 50 rings when you reach the end, you use the gyroscope to guide sonic to get these color orbs, let me say this, you guys think the half pipe sucks, I'll say this, I rather have that than these special stages -Hard mode and ranking So, this is weird but interesting, 3DS has a ranking system, which is redundant, but I didn't mind it In the 3DS version, beating the game unlocks a harder version of the Zones starting with Windy Hill, with each Zone being unlocked by clearing all of the last in any order. In these Zones, nearly all of the Rings are removed and Sonic only starts with one Ring upon entering a Zone and after restarting from a checkpoint. Nearly all item boxes are gone and have been replaced with lifes, making extra lives much more plentiful than they are in Normal Mode. Several platforms have been shrunken down or even removed, several spiked balls have been added, and extra/tougher enemies are present in certain spots. A few of the stages even have altered layouts or added sections. Additionally, all the stages feature a dark sky with purple clouds, giving them a grim theme. Note there are no red rings Now for the final boss, worse in the Wii u version, but the boss is better in 3DS, Eggman essentially use the wisp powers like the nega wisp armor, because the wii u version, he BARELY use the wisp powers at all, he use Drill and quake for one attack, laser, lighting and burst, asteroid is his most dangerous as it can instant kill you To damage him, you need to use the multi-homing attack in order to stun him, and then charge up the homing attack to deal damage As the fight continues, Eggman's power level gets stronger and the wisps give you the energy that Eggman use to take him out, once the power level gets over 9000, Eggman has a exclusive line that says "I'm sick of you getting in the way EVERY SINGLE TIME" But yeah, that's lost world, and I'll be honest, glad I played the 3DS version because the Wii u version SUCKS in my opinion, I like lost world, but that's the 3DS version, not the Wii u version

kinda wish instead of a glorified boss rush the nights levels had been an actual level though love sonic with nights at the end/would've loved him posing with sonic at the end.(didn't know that theme was from a vhs promotional.:3) for as nothing compared to colors the final boss was do love this way more epic than it should be theme/in the 3ds version eggman sounding like he's about to snap(makes me wish in forces they continued it having him go all out with revenge) alongside that funny way eggman just fell off the lost hex after sonic took the jetpack fuel.(even with half of it gone eggman looks weird without his mustache.)

Lost World is a perfectly fine game. It's not amazing like Generations or Mania were - not even close. But it's certainly not God Awful like some would make it out to be. It's not Boom or 06. But this, much like Forces, is just there. (Although personally I'll play this before I play Forces. And I do consider Lost World the better game of the two.) ...Yeah, it exists. It is what is it.

My brother bought me this game and I genuinely liked it. I can see why people didn't but it wasn't the hot garbage people made it out to be. If I didn't felt like I wasted my time then with that is a win for me. Now y'all starting Rise of Lyric...I'm known as the Optimist with Sonic and can see the brightside to stuff even to the mid Sonic games (Yes especially 06) but even I can't even defend Rise of Lyric cause that is GARBAGE with a capital G!
