We’re not suppose to get this generation of Camry as Toyota Japan decided to halt production for ASEAN market due to its low sales. But recently Toyota Japan decided to let Toyota Thailand resume the production of it. Knew it eventually Toyota will revert its decision. It’s an excellent D-Segment sedan that provides excellent alternative to anyone looking for a premium sedan, alternative to the Accord/5s/E/A6/S90 but without a premium badge and the badge of a Toyota. The spec shown was actually only offered to Thailand and Malaysia. It’s Singapore’s first time to be offered the rear-reclining seats. Usually, reserved for its luxurious cousin, the Lexus ES. But comes at a drawback of no knockdown rear seats. Toyota’s reliability, TNGA platform, full-spec level 4 autonomous driving, awesome car indeed.

Sgcarmart is owned by Toyota Financial Services (TFS). TFS has close links with the local AD Inchcape and every one of them has vested interest in Toyota. Sgcarmart provides an unfair advantage when it comes to dishing out Toyota-related content. Just look at the speed at which this review was broadcasted. Perfectly orchestrated with its launch event at wisma atria. Can we really believe that this review is impartial? Huge conflict of interest going on here.

This is essentially an ES300h at this point. And at 250k it’s ES300h executive/base pricing a year ago with executive discounts, this and that. But this has some extras, heads up display, no mention of heated or ventilated seats the base ES300h has ventilated. That interior looks good. Better than ES300h especially that sunroof. Who needs speed limit assist, the new OBU will remind you all the time. Borneo warranty is all over the place, they were offering 10 years servicing recently, unlimited battery for a time, I guess they are back to 5y 5y. Lexus is still 10y battery I think. 19.5kmpl and 7.2s is unreal numbers. ES300h can do about 17kmpl and 9s. What new magic sauce is this 2.5l ecvt hybrid packing. And this does tss3 better than ES300h.

The big question is can the rear seats be folded down 60:40? If not, it can be a deal breaker especially if need to load bigger items. BM should have another variant for not having the rear armrest control since not all may want it.

Yeah, yeah, I know the ideology of if you have the money why not just enjoy it, but having to shell out money that can be used for better reasons or that derive more pleasure than pain of paying a hefty loan for most is just ridiculous in my mind.
