A 2025 Camry LE Hybrid wouldn't last 5 years. The Bottom of the Barrel or lowest Trim level always breaks down after the Basic Warranty Expires. A fully loaded 2025 Camry XSE Hybrid FWD has an MSRP of nearly $42,000 and AWD would be $43,500. I despise Hybrids and EVs and don't care about MPG. For myself, "ICE", is the only way to go! I’m still driving my 2010 gas Camry which I bought brand new. This car has never missed an oil change, and it gets its rust proofing yearly. This car has never given me any trouble and it will quite possibly be the last car I own…yes I’ve installed a rear camera and remote car starter…I drive with my eyes open so who needs the lane sensors? The only thing to give out on this car was the gas struts for the hood..it opens fine, but won’t stay up.. so I use a stick to keep it propped open and the auxiliary channel is no longer working on the stereo I LOVE my car… and the BEST thing about it is…IT’S PAID FOR!!!😊💕💕
@beastboy-io4uh5 ай бұрын

These 10+ year old Camry's are still fun to drive! Our purchased new '11 with 134,000 miles on it is garaged, regular 5,000 mile oil changes, a radiator, belts and hoses, tires, and a $20 driver visor replaced. It has been on several coast to coast road trips and performs flawlessly at highway speeds. With little pressure on the gas pedal it accelerates from 65MPH to 80MPH to get around semi's hogging the middle lane on the interstates. Our aftermarket Kenwood entertainment screen provides apple CarPlay without a removable tablet looking screen on the newer Camry's. Sounds like if this '11 ever fails we will have a great option with the new Camry's! I also love my struts on the hood, and have asked the Toyota dealers that I have visited for oil changes, if they would put the struts on for free to sell me a new Camry - their response = YES!

I would say go and drive each one and decide. 0 to 60 time is not significantly different between the two. But fuel economy is almost double on the hybrid. So you'd have to decide what you value more. Slight bump in 0 to 60 for double the cost of operations? I would say if you don't drive that much or just the average amount most Americans do it probably isn't such a big deal. But if you do a whole lot of city driving particularly the hybrid is going to definitely pay dividends. If you do a whole lot of long distance highway travel it will make less difference. Friend of mine has the previous generation V6 Camry and he averages low mid-30s at highway speeds.

Thank you for the honest review. Sounds like the Camry is still a great car technically, with several annoying quirks that older generations did not have, and several downgrades over the previous versions. I guess we passed the peak of best cars ever made, not just with the Camry. Glad they're still focusing on reliability, that's most important to Toyota buyers like me. That said, the Camry XLE now costs almost twice as much as what I paid for my 2014.5 Camry XLE, and just about the same as what I paid for my 2022 Avalon XLE, so you are absolutely correct that prices are getting out of control. Well, that's one more incentive to pamper the cars I have to make them last as long as possible.

Maybe a hood prop like in my 1993 Corona was put back in the 2021/2025 because I'm guessing that a hood prop is lighter than the 2 gas struts. The gas struts will eventually pack up too. Mine did and i just put new ones in. A hood prop i doubt will ever pack up either. 0W-8 has been in use in Japan for a few years now. It was only recently (within six months) approved for use in the US. Many of your recent engines sold in North America requiring 0W-16 are actually designed to run on 0W-8, but were vetted for compatibility with 0W-16 in the North American market. Because of the recent approval, it's taking some time for the oil manufacturers to put together a 0W-8 oil for North American markets, get them certified, and put them on the market. Over the next six months, I suspect we'll see them become more common on the shelves at auto parts stores. :)
@4af5 ай бұрын
"designed to run on 0W-8" does not mean engine life will be optimized running oil that thin. Outside of the USA, Toyota owners manuals tell owners they can use 10W-30 even if their owners manual says 0W-8 is the factory fill oil.

I rented one of those new Camry's two days ago, just for the fun of it. The first highway trip where I averaged about 65 mph on cruise, achieved 55 miles per gallon. The second trip was 400 miles roundtrip and I achieved 51 miles per gallon, which cruise set at 71 miles per hour. I was quite impressed with this vehicle. My only issue was the interior looked just a little too cheap, compared to the Honda hybrids that I've rented. Also, it was nice and smooth, but the Accord definitely have tighter and more responsive handling.
@Jazz16-we1qc15 күн бұрын
Yep, steering and handling on the Accord is more responsive and it feels more like a driver's car. But if there's potholes, crappy roads everywhere, it can be a rougher ride because of its firmer suspension. And new tires can only help so much to soften that firm ride. That is why I switched to a Camry. Got the one with 16-inch wheels for extra cushion. The Camry interior does look cheap, but I overlook that for everything else the car does so well. And then there's reliability, and Toyota is way better at hybrids, as they've been refining them for decades. That means less chance of headaches, both before and after the warranties expire.

Camry lost us with this model. Just wanted a gas one to replace a damaged 2018 model. So, we got the RAV4 gas only. If Toyota keeps losing the gas only models I will have to move to a different brand. I know everything is going hybrid but I really don't want one and will hold off as long as I can.
@johndoe-fy6jz5 ай бұрын
why? you understand that the hybrid powertrain is more reliable? there's no starter for example, it uses the electric motor to spin the engine up to speed. the ecvt has no moving parts beyond rotating gears and a parking pawl. the lack of shifting means you don't have acceleration gaps. no valve body in the transaxle to wear out, no shifting bands losing friction material over time. there's no drive chain in the ecvt like other cvts, it's two electric motors and the combustion engine each spinning at different speeds to create an output ratio, so if you floor the gas the power is very quick to come in because you're not moving pullies to change the drive ratio of a steel pushbelt. I just cannot fathom how people find a modern hybrid powertrain to be less reliable than one without.

@@BigD481 yeah....I did a spreadsheet on car cost of the 2024 Camry with gas mileage, maintenance for both gas and hybrid and if you have to replace the battery at 150K miles you spend more for the hybrid long term. If you don't replace the battery you about break even. But, what is the resale of a hybrid with original battery at say 10-15 years/150K_ miles vs a gas model?
