Probably about how we would feel if an amazonian tribe was gifted all the knowledge of some advanced alien species. We might think how awesome it is that they were given this information, and reflect on how impressive and wise they might really be. But we would still know that that information and technology would be far more useful and do far more good in modern hands than theirs.

You know, what I love about this scene is that the whole conversation is reasonable and friendly. It is simply a person explaining to a someone reluctant that he may have a solution for them, and the reluctant considering the proposition and accepting it because it make sense. It's... This is one of the few episodes I love a lot, because even if it was accidental, they wrote the reactions correctly. It always annoys me that a lot of people think the Tollans are 'arrogant' and they deserve comeuppance. But I don't see them as arrogant at all. Omac's aloofness is quite correct, because it shuts down 'diplomatic' gesture from the start. Friendly diplomacy generally just means 'we want something from you'. Omac is telling them in no uncertain terms, not going to happen.

Daniel had nothing to gain from seeing the tech at work, something tells me the phasing tech is somewhat more complicated than the comm tech Omoc used to send the signal, and Daniel clearly was knocking his head against a wall just trying to understand that. I think Omoc also got the idea that Daniel was moderately technically minded, but more suited to interacting with other races and understanding their cultures - 1st priority anthropology / archaeology vs distant 2nd or 3rd priority astrophysics / hardcore science was ever Daniel's vibe.

Ikr, I hated their treatment of Tollans especially. Since they were written off just to make Anubis dangerous and position Earth has savior of the universe. Stargate was mostly a budget series and writers where just throwing shit at the wall half the time. The episode where the Alien is in Hollywood and acts like an ass is a good representation of what its actually like. IF this series is ever redone i would hope its Done with more Serious questions in mind about aliens not some stupid poltical pc trash or Company politics. most aliens more advance then us would also probably be around long enough to know better then our petty war tribe race on defense and offense. Human story in space is always exciting but it needs to have ALIEN mystery and marvel and star-gate unfortunately lasted too long to keep that mystery.

I admired that there were many different races. There were the big four as discussed in torment of tantalus and fifth race. Plus these other civilizations that lied below or above these races. Well, yeah, that and they also thought of themselves in the same way to how the future society in Star Trek think of themselves, as more advanced politically, socially, philosophically in every way to the early primitive societies on Earth. I mean, just the way Picard and some of the other starfleet people speak of the past, things like "We've moved beyond war" and the concept of not having money in the future. All of these things makes me think the Tollan are in Star Trek level of technology and live in a utopia like Star Trek. Thus, they would see us as primitive.
