少林炮锤 SHAO LIN PAO CHUI Attack from Above to Strike from Below

Both in Sun Zi and in the 36 Stratagems the Art of War is essentially the art of dissimulation. As Mao Zedong wrote: "Make noise near one side of the enemy to attack the other side".
This very important concept is found in many Taolu. Here we find it at the beginning of the second Taolu of the Shaolin Cannon Fist: three punches coming down from above are followed by a punch, the decisive one, coming up from below!
In any case it is not a feint: the four blows are all real blows, even the third, in addition to hitting, protects and hooks the opponent's limb, but the hidden blow, the decisive one, is the last one that comes from below .

Sia nel Sun Zi che nei 36 stratagemmi l'Arte della Guerra è sostanzialmente l'arte della dissimulazione. Come scriveva Mao Zedong: "Far rumore nei pressi di un lato del nemico per attaccarne l’altro lato".
Questo concetto così importante si ritrova in tante Taolu. Qui lo troviamo all'inizio della seconda Taolu del Pugno Cannone di Shaolin: a tre pugni che scendono dall'alto segue un pugno, il decisivo, che sale dal basso!
In ogni caso non si tratta di una finta: i quattro colpi sono tutti veri colpi, addirittura il terzo oltre a colpire protegge ed aggancia l'arto dell'avversario, ma il colpo nascosto, il decisivo, è l'ultimo che sale dal basso.

Thank you for presenting this. I learned this series of movements years ago when I was studying Shaolin. I always felt that it had great potential. The set my Sifu naked it was Gong Li. Thinking there are many, many versions of this form.

Ok, but in the video where Liu Zenhai performs Pao Quan the double uppercut seems more like an arm lock to me, at least the way he does it.

Here I perform as Master Liang Yiquan taught us, at the Shaolin Temple, in the eighties. I know others perform differently. In any case, the application as a joint lever of the uppercut fist is an excellent and real application! Here I only emphasized the strategic concept: three from above, one from below.
