They both saved each other. Mary gave him an opportunity to have bravery and fight his fears while Seto rescued Mary from her loneliness and helped her open up to the world. ^w^

I think it's what Mary says about her dream of the world crumbling away and the tragedy mentioned . I think if both of those events were illustrated, it would reveal key plot elements. For example, Jin has said that the Mekakushi Dan are dead and that relates to their eye powers so the tragedy mentioned could be Seto's death (along with the dog) and would reveal how they get their eyes. In Outer Science Mary resets the timeline which may relate to her dream in this song. Just guessing :P

No, only Seto was bullied. Mary could never leave her cottage for fear of turning others to stone. When her mother died, she was left alone, hence the "Someone save me, I'm lonely!" piece. Seto came across her cottage after "running away", and became friends with her, allowing her to explore the world more.
