Beautiful video! I am a Judo and Aikido practitioner. Many people compare Shuai Jiao to Judo, but not many look at how similar it is to AIkido. Many Japanese martial arts can trace their lineage to Chinese martial arts and Aikido is no exception. In fact many theorise that Morihei Ueshiba took a lot of inspiration from Chinese martial arts during his time in China during the war. I wouldn't be surprised if Shuai Jiao was one of his main inspirations. A whole lot of techniques in this video are very similar to the techniques I have learnt in Aikido over the past 6 years. Such a beautiful martial art, I am very happy to have found this video.

In fact there are styles of Shuai Jiao (or rather localities and cities in China) in which it is practiced with concepts very similar to Aikido! My Master Yuan Zumou many years ago invited a Master to Paris who practiced just as I see Aikido performed. I ask Stefano Danesi and other friends what school it was because I no longer remember.
@teovu55573 ай бұрын
Ueshiba made aikido from aikijujitsu...literally every aikido technique and theory of combat is simplified from aikijujitsu. No Chinese influence. Judo on the other hand comes mainly from kito Ryu jujutsu which official history states it came from a Chinese wrestling via a master. "Kito ryu is the “rise and fall” school of jujutsu. Some of the available records trace the origin of this school to a Chinese combat based upon the principle of ju (suppleness), as explained and illustrated by Chin Gempin to selected warriors of 17th century Japan"
@alvarorodriguezrodriguez213312 сағат бұрын
If I'm not wrong, Aikido and Judo descend directly from Jujutsu (or Jiujitsu, I'm not sure if there's any differences) , like, literally the founders where Jujutsu prácticioners. Jujutsu itself probably descend form Shiao Jiao and Quinna ; Aikido is likely more similar to Quinna than to Shiao Jiao

Many grappling martial arts have these same techniques. Remember that both Judo and Aikido got their techniques from other martial arts: Judo took from Jujutsu and Catch Wrestling. Aikido Took from Aikijujutsu, specifically Daitō-Ryū. And then have in mind that those same martial arts (Jujutsu and Daito Ryu) got their grappling tecniques yet from another martial art, Sumo, which probably took it's moves from somewhere else.
@teovu5557 Жыл бұрын
@@jestfullgremblim8002 jujutsu is just a genetic term in japan for dozens of unrelated systems of japanese unarmed grappling of the samurai its not a name of single martial art. and judo took mainly from kito ryu jujutsu and tenjin shinyo jujutsu n some wresting kano saw in books. fun fact judo is actually the modernized n official successor of the kito ryu jujutsu system n kano kept all its kata(koshiki no kata in judo is kito ryu's kata unchanged) also the named his style judo because it was also a name of a kito ryu style from the 1700s "Since Kano, Jigoro got the Kitō-ryū densho from his Sensei, Judo is the current Kitō-ryū official successor. Modified safer versions of Kitō-ryū throws form large part of Judo's Nagewaza (but without joint-locking throws)."
