Күн бұрын

岐阜提灯は、18世紀の中頃に、岐阜で作られたのが始まりとされ、近くに原材料の和紙、竹が豊富にあったことから発展しました。
This craft originated in the 17th century. Chochin is a Japanese traditional lantern made of a paper covering on a thin bamboo frame. A candlelight is placed inside for illumination.

I spent a week in Gifu in 1998 and while exploring the city found a small lantern shop. I still have two of the lanterns I bought and love them dearly.

Are they easy to maintain? Being made of paper don't they absorb a lot of dust?
@SarahHafley
@SarahHafley 4 жыл бұрын
@@carlosc3768 I haven't been able to find a suitable place to hang them in a long time so no noticeable accumulation. When I did hang them, they were fairly easy to clean by taking them down and dusting them with a soft brush.

Handicraft are not only craft, it's all about the artist passion, emotion. Sometime we take crafts just for granted, but if we look closely we can found the life, the dream the perfection of that artist.

Lol, no, they are famous for their quality craftsmanship and well made things. It's just very expensive so many people don't buy it, making it difficult for those craftsman to survive.
@terrianime13
@terrianime13 3 жыл бұрын
@@SkyeAten Um this is very old comment, do apologize for my wording but what I'm saying is that people in this world don't acknowledge or appreciate handmade crafts more. What these crafters do is time consuming. Not only a problem with just craft but any other forms of art is being look down upon in world as job because they are not their to see the whole process and think how we got there is not easy. Being an artist myself, it's hard. But beside consumerism and money and what it worth, I just want people to understand the beauty for what they do and why they do the things they do is truly beautiful to look at. Because in the end of day, we only see the final product for what it is.

I am constantly amazed by the dedication and hard work the Japanese artisans put into their craft. The combination of simple shapes and masterful execution reminds me of the natural world and how often the most basic of solutions is the most elegant and also the most difficult to execute. Beautifully done.

This is so great. When emperor Meiji westernized Japan at his installation in 1869 the only thing that was still prohibited was Christianity, hence Japan kept its animist character. I am glad he did. This is why Japanese still believe the essence of existence is nature itself and its Kamis.

I love watching these. In England and the rest of the U.K. we are struggling - but succeeding- to hang on to our traditional crafts that are so much a part of our country’s psyche. These are beautiful, handmade so of course I want several to hang in my garden in the summer - IF we have a summer ☺️☺️☺️

ForUploadin oh lovely, I think you misunderstood my comment. We had plenty of designers, still do, I was thinking more of our traditional crafts like Dry Stone Walling, Thatching, Weaving, Wood Carving, Pot Making, that we struggled for so long? to hang onto. They are all making a bit of a comeback which is great. As far as designers are concerned William Morris is one of my very favourites because of his social conscience and sense of community as well as his wonderful design work.
