SH43 + SH46 Shad Luggage Case Review on FZ6

Today I will be reviewing my Shad SH43 and SH46 hard shell luggage cases on my FZ6. I will also show you the one flaw I think Shad could improve on. Overall these cases have been great in all weather conditions and I would highly recommend them to you if you are considering getting hard shell cases for your touring bike. I've taken this setup camping all across the west coast of North America for weeks on end without any issues.

Can I ask how your indicators are attached? I have the pannier bracket and it is designed on extenders that make the indicators stick out rather than go lower than the cases to be seen

Hey man, I have the shad top master bracket which you attach the top box to, but I'm trying to find where to get the pannier bracket, they look from your video to actually attach onto the top bracket, any idea of the model number? thanks

Step 1: Remove top case. Step 2: Bolt painted plywood centered onto metal rack lengthwise overhanging back of the bike and passenger seat. Step 3: Bolt a latching Sterilite footlocker onto plywood lengthwise. Step 4: Throw away top case. Step 5: Enjoy having enough space to fit a bushel of apples, a backpack, hiking shoes, and rain gear simultaneously.

There are downsides. You can no longer take passengers and water finds its way inside the box during heavy rain. Proper motorcycle boxes are designed to cover the seam at the top of box so that no rain gets inside, but interior grade plastic chests have no such design feature. It is surprisingly sturdy and it holds up to UV much better than anticipated. I've had the setup for years with no problems. I've even been touring Iron Butt distances with this rig. It's definitely worth doing if you usually store your bike under shelter. When bolting the flimsy plastic down to the plywood, cut some skinny wood "rails" to fit inside the bottom of the box. The bolts go through the wood rails, through the plastic box, and through the plywood beneath where you will tighten into washers and nuts below. You will sandwich the box between the wood rails and the plywood. This gives you some material to hold onto without shredding the plastic.
