most likely because he was drugged out. poor guy had a heroin addiction that was sadly the death of him

He's riffing on the whole James Brown thing, where JB collapses at the end of "Please, Please, Please" and is helped offstage while someone drapes a cape over him. It's an obvious reference to that moment. I know about Phil's dope use, but I don't think he's high at all. Just stagemanship. @@ColtraneTaylor
