All these guys could sing or they wouldn't have been in the band. That's what made Sha na na special... when they did a cover it was as good or better than the original.

In 1984, I was working for a traffic reporting service in L.A. With the Summer Olympics coming to town, our management decided to add extra staff in order to better cover the roads. There was much anticipation that the usually heavy traffic in town would be made worse with all of the events going on, especially on some days when events were converging in close proximity to one another. One of the people that was hired as an anchor was Dan, who by then, had left Sha Na Na. I worked with him in studio and as a reporter in one of our planes. He was a lot of fun to be around, and in between reports, would answer our questions about his days with Sha Na Na and share behind-the-scenes stories. I was sad when I learned he had passed away...we had lost touch several years before that time, and that made his passing that much more sad for me. I would have liked it if we had been in better contact. A few years before this, I was working at a radio station in Palm Springs, and Dan came into town to voice some commercials for a local business. I engineered the session, and we had a good time working on the project. Seeing the videos from the show here brings back some really nice memories!!! Miss you Dan...RIP.

@@jessiejames7492 I don't recall why he decided to leave Sha Na Na in 1980 when their syndicated tv show was going into its 4th season. He was with them when they appeared in the movie "Grease" as Johnny Casino and the Gamblers in the scene where a national music show that resembled "American Bandstand" was broadcast from Rydell High. I did enjoy working with him during the two weeks of the 1984 Summer Olympics.

@hrhlauradi after mention that I listened to it I went looking for it. I may have gotten it confused with another song I liked back then that Sha Na Na had on the album I liked. "Tell Laura I Love Her". After looking all over for Last Kiss I came up empty and blamed it on old age. :) Instead I had to listen to the Pearl Jam cover which was not a bad version.
