The reason your weapon was breaking so easily is that you were using its special ability. In DS1 and DS2, some weapons have special moves that deal more damage at the expense of the item’s durability. It’s why repair powder is important. Also, your suspicions about the ring were correct!

This might be my favorite episode yet. I have been waiting for you to get to the shaded ruins, and you did not disappoint. Shaded ruins is in my top 5 areas of the game, because there's just so much going on in such a small area. It's just so dense with little secrets everywhere. You're really seeing what I see when playing this game, and I love it. I'm sure people are gonna get on you for not talking to manscorpion tark before the boss fight, but don't beat yourself up. Most people tend to make the mistake of killing him, or don't even remember the ring. You did miss some lore, and he is a summon for the boss you just beat... Don't worry yourself though, because his summon doesn't impact rewards, and the summons in general aren't as important as you've been led to believe. Try to remember he's there though, because you will want to speak with him again after collecting the last great soul. That's the best I can explain without spoilers. Grave of saints is a very small, and not especially significant area. You'll probably knock it out in 20 minutes. You can probably just do it anytime it suits you before drangleic castle. What ever you decide, don't forget about returning to black gulch before going to the castle. As always Wuggs, you're doing great, and I'll see you in the one.

It s that time again Wuggs, time for the weekly comment as always 😉 Overall I am very happy that you found out that the one key you collected from the lizards leads to a dlc. But DLC is for later times. The Shaded Woods is (for me) one of the most unpleasant areas of DS2 because as you said, if you can t see what you re fighting it s sh@t. But you explored everything inch by inch and made the right decisions so, really good job there. What surprised me the most was the moment that you were allowed to pass through the Metall Shrine of Winter !!! Normally there are two requirements possible for opening that door and you need one of those requirements fulfilled. (Small celebration here: You opened it by fulfilling the most difficult requirement). Keep in mind that the firekeeper said that it is too early to go to the castle. This means that the expected requirement has not been met yet. (That s unfortunately as far as I m allowed to talk about this, the rest you have to figure out yourself 😉) Maybe one last thing with regards to weapons: Big weapons are good and do a lot of damage with one hit BUT in this stage it is only one hit and dodge. In this stage of the game you also need to consider sth like DPS (Damage Per Strike). For instance: two greatswords at this stage and with your profile, give out one hit and do 780-900 damage depending on the enemy and then you need to dodge because you only have stamina to do that realistically, while the hammer can do three hits and one dodge with one hit doing 280-390 damage. You can do the rest of the math and youl will understand what I mean. I am telling you this because now in the early stages you need to find the balance for the weight of your character. 😉 (BUT TAKE YOÙR TIME WITH THAT, IT NEEDS TIME TO BE UNDERSTOOD ) But yet again a fantastic video Wuggs as always and for next time, Pharros is the way to go. But I would also suggest to do the grave of saints too at the start (But it s optional). It does not take long to explore. It s your choice and we are with you

I always look forward to these Pana thank you! good info here and nice compliments that I appreciate too! In Dark Souls, weapons with a special attack - like the Smelter Sword - consume large amounts of durability each time you use said special attack. Basically, this is a limiting mechanic to stop you just blasting everything with super-powered attacks constantly. You can ameliorate this by wearing a special ring, and by using repair powder and/or the repair spell. Edit: FYI it is possible to wield two smelter swords, so if you are inclined keep that dream alive!

1) Divine Blessing is like an Estus flask, but restores health a little slower and removes all negative effects (poison, curse etc). 2) An interesting thing: there is a so-called Name-engraved Ring, which helps players belonging to the same god to more easily find each other to play together. When putting on a ring, a list of the main deities that exist in the game world should be displayed. So... that corner at the bottom of the board will not be enough for all the deities. A little information about the gods you`ve noticed for now. Quella is the goddess of dreams. Her image is an angel. The embodiment of Quella is a tree mentioned in legends: “Once upon a time there lived a boy who was afraid of everything, until a talking tree from the dream world turned itself into a shield to protect him”. Her fables talk about a great divine tree that is capable of talking and can access the "dreamworld". The Blue Sentinels worship this goddess. Zinder is the god of desire. His image is a golden pig's muzzle from the front. The embodiment of God is the serpent, which is said to be both his servant and manifestation. Zandroe, God of Greed is known for exactly the same attributes as Zinder, and the two might have originated from the same legend. Caitha is actually an interesting goddess. In the times and region of Drangleic, Caitha was worshipped as a compassionate deity that is with people in times of tragedy. She was called the "goddess of tears" because she was said to mourn the undeserving dead, shedding tears as red as blood, and those who have lost loved ones, shedding pure tears of blue. These tears of the deity were believed to be the stones set in magical rings, with the same powers and gems that actually originated in Catarina and Carim. It can be theorized that Caitha is actually a "reformed" and "cleansed" version of Velka, Goddess of Sin (but it`s only a theory). However, the sacred chime blessed by her (The Sacred Chime of Caitha) cannot perform miracles and is used exclusively to create spells of the forbidden art of corruption. Because of this, there is an opinion that in fact Caiaphas is “a demon who drags the unfortunate into trouble”. Some believed that Caitha was in fact a demoness that guides humans towards misfortune, as her chimes have the ability to cast hexes, a type of dark magic banned in most lands that is rooted in both sorcery and miracles, instead of the miracles typical of a god. 3) 45:14 that death was so funny, i cant D D D 4) Yeah, Heavy Iron Key is for the DLC. 5) The guy with a blue big sword is Benhart of Jugo. You can meet him 3 more times, I think. First place - Forest of Fallen Giants: he will be sitting in front of fallen giant past the Pursuer's boss arena. Second place - Drangleic Castle: you can`t miss him there. Third place - Memory of Orro: it will be pretty easy to spot him too, just like in Drangleic. You can also get his equipment, including his sword. To do this, you need to call him for help on all bosses near which his summon sign will be. You also need to defeat the bosses so that Benhart is alive at the end of each battle (otherwise the victory will not be counted and you will not be able to get the equipment). So long as you and Benhart complete 3 of any of these fights (or 2 of one and 1 of another, etc.) and he survives each, he will reward you with his gear and achievement if spoken to in the area behind the Pursuer fight. 6) When you reached Drangleic, the Emerald Herald said that your soul is basically weak, since you haven`t killed one more ancient boss yet (but you can still explore the castle). The doors in the Shrine of Winter (a little location with an altar for the DLC before Drangleic) open either when you receive 4 souls of ancient bosses, or when you accumulate soul memory from one million (soul memory is the total number of souls you have received so far). So that basically means that your soul memory is more than one million souls. 7) So since you are using two big swords you might wanna just upgrade hp, endurance and vitality. I`ve played this game a lot and I can tell you, that HP 30, END and VIT 40 (or something around that, if you will not have enough souls for that) will be great for your character, cause: more hp is always good; you will need endurance for attacks and dodges; more vitality will allow you to wear some armor with those swords you are using. But END and VIT are better options if you have a small amount of souls for now. 8) You shold`ve talked to the scorpion guy (Tark) before defeating Najka - he would`ve told you a love story between them or something (don`t remember). And you could`ve also summon him for a boss fight - but it is what it is. 9) The old man in a wheelchair is Darkdiver Grandahl. He is a member of the Pilgrims of Dark covenant, a group dedicated to exploring the depths of the Abyss and unlocking its secrets. Grandahl is a mysterious and enigmatic figure, with little known about his past or motivations. He offers the opportunity to join the Pilgrims of Dark covenant, allowing you to undertake a series of trials in the Abyss to prove your worth. Grandahl has a vast knowledge about the nature of the Dark and the Abyss. He worships the Dark as "the mother of all things" and he firmly believes that by facing the Abyss one will discover the "truest dark" within himself. A thing not far from him is a portal to a new location. You`ll need to find him in two more places so that you can join his covenant and explore location beyond the portal. The first one is in the Black Gulch in a hidden room accessed using the Forgotten Key. There is a ledge you can drop onto off the main path, with an arch door. You can gain the Forgotten Key by killing two Elite Giants in a cave located underneath the door's platform. The second one is in the Drangleic Castle. The Drangleic Castle access point is located in the big room just off the bonfire room. The very last room on the left will contain a partially broken floor. Stepping on the floor will result in falling into the shrine, along with a bonfire.

FYI, there is a way to disable the poison in the earthen peak. When the poison is disabled, the Pharos lockstone fountain releases cleansing healing water that can cure you of poison. The fountain you found before the smelter demon also has this healing effect, and had you soaked yourself, it would also increased your fire resistance quite a bit. On a related note, getting the flash sweat pyromancy, sure resist ring, soaking in water, and wearing the highest fire resistance armor, and pop a healing crystal, you can survive just long enough to grab the loot on the fire paths of the iron keep. For your build, it’s not really worth it because the loot is all pyromancy related.

Great job, man! You were really on fire this episode - literally, at some points! Also, great call on the Hammer & Shield build, it really served you well when you were fighting those dastardly shades in the forest (picking the wrong weapon here leads to serious tears, as they are fast and you can't lock on to them... you need something with a wide swing). Even though you were building for the greatswords, your tremendous strength still yields dividends with one-handed strength weapons, like the Artisans Hammer. (The hammer itself is a fabulous weapon, though you might also consider Vengarl's rust red sword and scimitar, which both scale excellently with strength. Unfortunately, it all takes twinkling titanite to upgrade, though.) It's good to have multiple options for builds... I like to have an arsenal of different weapons for each of my characters to play around with, and maybe a light and a heavy armor set, though that's probably excessive in the eyes of most DS players. I would make an investment in VITALITY going forward, so you can wield your cool swords AND your cool armor at the same time. You can probably hold off on more STR... unless of course you do really want dual smelter swords! -IIRC the biggest bonk of them all comes in at about 50 STR. After that you get diminishing returns, so the only point becomes absurd dual wield powerstancing builds.- Edit: Lol, was I wrong! The biggest bonk is 70 STR to one-hand. Absurd!

Another great episode! A small tip for identifying hostiles vs NPC's -- use the lock-on test. Press R3 and, if you get a lock on, it's guaranteed not a friendly NPC. At most, it could be an enemy with odd behavior, but as far as I'm aware, you can only lock onto hostile/enemy targets. Obviously, if there's any doubt, it's better to be cautious. I would really hate to be wrong about this and screw you over, so maybe it's worth verifying with someone else if you plan to do it, but I can't think of a single time in any Soulsborne game where you can lock on to a friendly NPC. Oh, and keep in mind this rule doesn't work the other way around. Sometimes certain enemies can't be locked on, even if they are hostile.

Special attacks are balanced by using a bunch of durability. Also an easy way to fight the big hippo guys is to stand behind them and bait their but slam attack. As long as you stand behind them they will always do that move and it leaves them wide open for a few seconds. Normaly you cant enter through the shrine of winter, you have to defeat all 4 main bosses to pass it but, it also let's you go through if you have a soul memory of atleast 1million. Glad you like the game for the areas :) Some are great, some are not so great, but honestly, the same applies to DS1 and yet DS1 gets praised all the time while DS2 gets a lot of hate. And I personally think that DS1, while being a great game, still had its flaws and DS2, while not regarded as that great, still has quite a lot of strengths. A few things like always: 1. You would have gotten some dialogue before from the scorpion dude AND you would have had him as a Summon for the Boss Fight if you would have used the Ring earlier. But he will not appear at other locations. However, if you acquired another Great Soul, you should talk to him again. 2. The laughter are the Curse Barrells. And yes, the Ring of Foes also lets you hear the Lion Mages who are growling. 3. "Down the road" aka the home of Ornifex comes up in an area you have yet to find. 4. If you want to decide whether to go to Grave of Saints or Doors of Pharros first, do Grave of Saints. It connects to The Gutter, so once you are done with it, you are done. 5. Scorpioness Najka only resembles Queelag, she has nothing to do with her. The Devs probably just wanted to make a Boss looking similar to her, because it is a cool design. 6. The guy in the wheelchair is at three different locations. Once you have found all 3, you can do his quest. One Location is at the Black Gulch, where messages told you to jump down, which is not a troll.

Gold serpent ring stacks with the jester mask, the prisoners tatters dropped by hollows, regular and golden lucky coins, and the watchdragon parma you got from that red drake in Heide’s Tower. So if you ever really wanna farm for a specific item, you can combine all those things and even join the champions covenant from Viktors stone in Majula momentarily so that enemies will infinitely respawn. Boss weapons in this game tend to be ridiculously strong and most of them have special R2 attacks but these cause the durability to drop dramatically per swing. But it can be slightly delayed with the bracing knuckle ring

I like your whiteboard idea, you will definitely need a bigger one soon though lol. Good job on the shaded woods, it's small and easy if you know where to go but sucks your first time or if you are trying to pick up the loot. Those salamanders are the worst enemy in the game, they suck. Too much damage and health and weird hit boxes even by ds2 standards. You can jump off the high ledge above them and do a plunge attack with a unique animation to get into that room earlier and without the iron key, which is neat. You went slightly off the "correct" order by going to the castle already, which is why the emerald herald said your soul is weak. Normally to open the shrine of winter, you need the 4 great souls but it also opens if you have had a million souls collected so far in the game. Good job with the ring of whispers, I left a message about it before I got to the end, then had to edit this since you did it, if you had managed to talk to the scorpion before the boss fight, he was a summon and had some rewards. Nothing major but nice. And you will find Ornifex's home later. It's just right down the road... Do the grave of saints first, it's small and leads to the gutter, so it will be quick since you've already finished the gutter.

You actually missed the Rebel’s Greatshield description, which has some really key DS2 lore. Also, if you got the ring and talked to Tark before Najika, you could get some conversation and summon him. I’d keep him in mind if you defeat any other insect/arachnid bosses, because he has some really important dialogue if you wanted some DS1 connection, especially with these ‘great souls’ 👀 You could also go around to those DLC fountain/shrine things and read the tablets next to them to get some more lore for your board and a little taste for what’s to come. And yes, DS3 does balance boss fights and story/exploration really well :)

Item discovery stacks addictively in addition Dark Souls 2 NG+ or Bonfire Intensity level of the area also gives a hidden item discovery bonus of (+150 to 375) In Short, on higher NG+ cycles enemies drop loot more often and DS2 often has some extra loot and enemies too. Soul gain stacks by multiplying the %. Jester Glovers is a 10% soul boost. Using weapon abilities in Dark Souls 1 and 2 always costs huge amounts of weapon durability so they can not be abused. In DS2 durability can be an issue and for some reason, repair powders are expensive 2500 souls and rare...... Fire salamanders are the only enemies in the game who are 100% resistant/immune to fire damage even on land. Few enemy types can become immune to fire damage if in water. But yes usually fire-looking enemies have 70-85% fire dmg resistance. BlackSteel Katana has weak base damage but very strong dex scaling likely good for 50 dex builds. It can out-damage other katanas at high dex. It also has 150 counter dmg so it deals 150% dmg if you hit an enemy during their attack animation. The Tutorial zone the very first area in DS2 has a semi-hidden ring that increases poise damage done by the player. You can even get it before choosing your class.
@Wuggernaut12 сағат бұрын
Thank you this info dude! That’s all good to know, and exciting about the stacking! Also 👀👀 need Ring?
@TheSuperColonel11 сағат бұрын
@@Wuggernaut Ring is dropped by an Ogre before the Firekeeper's house. (where you choose your class). If you killed all 3 Ogres in the starting Zone talk with the NPCs inside the house. You get a"reward". If you have a"soul Vessel" you can also try talking with the NPC if you"want to start over again". The ring gives a flat boost to poise dmg(both spells and melee) meaning you can stagger enemies in fewer hits. Sometimes 2 hits vs 1 hit if you have the ring.

If you burn a Bonfire Ascetic at Shaded Ruins you can revive Scorpioness Ninjak as the boss. You found her quite easy so you may enjoy the fight at NG+ difficulty more. This should let you talk to Manscorpion Tark and get his dialogue before the fight - and now you can summon him for it. Will give you another chance to break the tree with the item on it too. Also, NG+ Ninjak drops a powerful item that first playthrough doesn't. The Ascetic will respawn all wooden chests but not metal ones, and enemies you've unpetrified you don't have to again.

I'd advise to level up ADP a bit more. In DS1, i-frames depend on the equip load: 9, 11 and 13 frames for heavy, medium, fast roll respectively. In DS2, i-frames depend on agility: 9, 10, 12 and 13 frames at 90, 95, 100 and 105 agility respectively. So your current i-frames in DS2 are between a medium and heavy roll in DS1. You're doing pretty good so far but with 105 agility it will feel a lot better imo. Also a small tip: you can stunlock most NPC with the Greatsword two-handed heavy attack.
