I keep seeing this comment everywhere and it baffles me every single time. When has SEGA *NOT* acknowledged it? Sonic Runners, Dash, Speed Battle, Speed Simulator, the Cookbook, the encyclospeedia, Sonic Channel, Generations, the Sonic Symphony literally starts with 06, Mephiles was originally gonna be connected with the Time Eater AND Infinite and they've proudly made that publicly known, 06 merchandise all the time, Archie tied to all games or adapted them in some way and 06 was no exception, Rivals is essentially a direct sequel, Colors DS references it, the social media team references it all the time, Team Sonic Racing directly referenced it a few years ago, the IDW comics reference it. Legitimately, y'all are gaslighting yourselves, there's never not been a time they haven't acknowledged it.

He was always supposed to be someone who thinks he's making the world a more beautiful and upgraded one by mechanizing it with him able to protect it under his rule and he's supposed to be a selfish villain but still having affable moments. Ohshima said so and it's in his bios for Sonic Jam and Adventure (through their guides).

To be fair, the second time he tricked Knuckles, Knuckles was skeptical and only believed him because it looked like Sonic was holding a shard of the Master Emerald. He initially thought Eggman had one too so it wasn't just because of Eggman's lie. You even see part of Sonic's emerald but it happened to be the green one. And also, part of the trick is knowing that Sonic is too stubborn to explain the situation and both idiots will just fight it out. He tricks Knuckles more in Sonic X than in the games. Oddly, despite covering the Adventure arc, his trick from SA1 isn't present in Sonic X tho. But the first trick is getting him to fight Sonic, probably as a proxy for not showing Sonic 3's storyline where he makes Knuckles think Sonic's the bad guy. And simultaneously like the SA1 trick as well because Sonic could just find out what's going on and tell him that Eggman is lying but instead he hints to it through insults and taunting and decides to fight Knuckles. Bonus: just as Eggman shows up to a trusting Knuckles and makes him do his bidding, Black Doom does the same thing with Shadow, Eggman does the same thing with Jet, Mephiles does the same thing with Silver, and Merlina does the same thing with Sonic. SOOOOOOOOOO.... lol

Very common. Both are true but one feeling will dominate the other in certain situations. For instance, if you are being neglected by loved ones due to another family members death, you will feel resentment. But if you are talking to outsiders about a soldier gunning down your cousin, you are going to feel protective.

Eggman is distant from his family but Maria was still one of them, and she was murdered. No matter how isolated he felt that still has to hurt. I think he felt closer to her and his grandfather than he did any of the rest.

Considering he never even knew Maria, I take this more to mean that he feels a bit of regret. Maria is a Robotnik, and just as much family to him as Gerald was, but while he clearly looked up to Gerald, Maria just kind of... exists to him. And I don't think he likes that very much. Maybe he wishes he could have had more of an opportunity to get to know her?

@@LordQuint Surprisingly, it’s already confirmed that 06 stages are in Shadow Gens, even though it’s only 1 so far that is confirmed (Kingdom Valley). In terms of Black Knight, as much as I would love to see stages from there, I think we should be a little bit conservative of our hype and expectations. It would be ridiculously insane if they brought back levels from Black Knight, but they’ll probably be more focused on games that cater towards the dynamic characterisation of Shadow throughout the mainline series. Even so, just seeing Black Knight footage on the official Sonic account is great!

Eggman tricking Shadow into overexerting himself is actually a good idea. Even if he has to lose an army of robots, he could swoop in after and defeat the hedgehog when he's tuckered out. The problem would be with containment. How do you keep him from breaking out when he comes to? You'd have to have a specialized prison for him. Maybe keep him deep under water, so that if he breaks out, the water would come flooding in. That would dissuade him. His friends Rouge and Omega would probably take Shadow's capture personally, though, and wreck all of Eggman's toys until they get him back.

It's not a terrible plan, I think the main issue is, well, the army and somehow needing to keep him in the same spot and tire him out, so you need lots of factors to both present significant enough opponents that taking off the limiters for prolonged periods of time is a necessity, and somehow ensure he won't just seek to slip away, or just destroy the entirity of the army before hitting his limit.

I don't recall any official source calling them inhibitor rings outside of the game universe. As I've come to understand, the fanbase adopted the term "inhibitor rings" because of the comics, but Japanese Sonic X calls them just "limiters" and it was the 1st time ever when it was introduced that they limit Shadow's energy in the whole Sonic media. I think this might be 1st time ever "limiter rings" are officially named in the game canon (tho it's still currently in a KZbin video, but by an official channel about Shadow's game appearances so I count it).
