I just shadow box with gloves on and small 1 pound weights ...I get used to the gloves that normally are used for sparring plus 1 pound weights ...makes it a lot better

Yes, use them as a way to replicate some of the resistance of bag work but in a low impact way. Personally, I prefer using Pilates bands across the back and under the arm pit then held in both hands, better resistance and less chance of over extension injury.

Good video, I was at one time using 2 Lb hand weights and felt like my finger joints were getting strained. The result was being in the pushup position hurt, so I went to 1Lb Everlast hand weights and hadn't had that problem. The difference being the 2Lb hand weights when I punch the weights are restricted by my finger joints which was where the pain came from while the Everlast hand weights the weight is on the top of the hand, so the finger joints are spared. I do wish Everlast would come up with a 2 lb hand weight glove. 3 Lbs seems like too much IMO. I don't overextend the punches and he's right, that can cause over time elbow problems. I think in general practicing slowly keeps this from happening and go faster over time. Thanks for the video though. I was feeling some pain in my right wrist and was wondering if even the 1 Lb hand weights were a problem. But a good video because it even says the 2 Lb weights aren't an issue either. Probably my solution is just moderation because even when i was using 2Lb hand weights I didn't feel the pain until after a year of constant usage.. I do 60 minutes of Cardio Kickboxing with 2Lb foot weights, 1 or 2 Lb hand weights for 60 minutes adding an altitude mask set at 6000 feet. I love Cardio Kickboxing (shadowboxing) because its intense and I can vary the intensity during the exercise. Many times I may not start out as intense at first but over time as my heart rate increases. I wear a heart rate monitor and my heart rate can go from 120 bpm - normally 185 bpm and I'm 42 years old. I have pushed my heart rate at times to 205 BPM. Because of shadowboxing (yes I lift and do other things too) my resting heart rate is 53 beats per minute BPM. i used 10 i think the idea should be just start small 1 pound and work your up and that will increase speed

i used to as well and i feel like speed does go up but its something that should be temporarily once your max speed goes up from 5lb weights switch to shadow with gloves because the 5 makes your shots sloppy and that form causes loss of speed so i personally take advanatage of both

I have got 2 weights, 2kg (around 4,4kg), what could be dangerous about it using it with shadow boxing?

I do shotokan, which is 90%+ of the time you're hitting air when training. Just with no weight you're going to do damage to your joints if you overextend and don't slow down your joints properly. It's why most of the time people can't do it forever.

Nah , bro. Stick with the 3lb. weights. The more weight you use the more chance of a joint injury or muscle tear. Been there done that. Trust me, 3 pounds weights are plenty for shadow boxing.

What's weird is for the Guerrero fight Floyd was apparently up to using 7's in camp (many videos of this out there already) and honestly it confused me why he is using such heavy weight. I still don't know how he is getting away with it.

Yea and that's great, until your joints wear out. It's not that "oh nobody is strong enough to do like 5 lbs" it's that it's not helpful to what you want to do.
