Yeah, it's something I've always wondered too, cause the last encounter with Black Doom only ended with him falling from the sky and was never found. What Shadow Destroyed with the ARK is the Black Comet, but Black Doom wasn't in that, so he might actually still be alive

10:12 The death egg gets destroyed and repurposed multiple time throughout the series, but the Ark at the end of SA2 got chaos control teleported back into orbit to stop it from colliding into the earth. EDIT: I just wanted to specify this cuz I also got confused and thought the Ark was destroyed but I got it confused w/ the death egg lol

One of the many things I loved about this first episode is how there wasn’t music during the fight scene you you could only hear their fight things like the foot steps, Shadow breathing, the impacts, etc.

He definitely *is* talking about Black Doom when thinking about "could he have survived" after "that was no mere nightmare". Remember, Doom has the ability to give intense hallucinations to Shadow cuz of their connection.

10:36 As everyone else has mentioned, Shadow is probably talking about Doom, but I'd love it if Gerald was still alive somehow. People have been saying Shadow's new Doom Wings are a reference to the mural from Sonic 3, right? Well why not go all the way with the reference and have Shadow use his Doom Wings to fight an insane version of Gerald at the end of the game? I think it'd be fun, and if we're going to rehash the origin from SA2, might as well have a conflict between 2 characters who have different ideas of how to honor Maria's memory.

I think that emerald isn't really an emerald but Shadow's chaos energy taking the shape of the emerald before he's shooting the chaos spear out He would've picked up the emerald if it would be one

I thought the same thing! I’m glad I’m not alone in this. The chaos spear he shoots took the shape of an emerald just before he grabbed it and launched it. It was all a reflexive and instinctive action. If there was a chaos emerald that he had, it would still have been in his hand after the use. I also assume his first set of actions, after having a nightmare with slightly altered memories, wouldn’t be to grab a chaos emerald and shoot a chaos spear.
