His official name is Dr. Ivo Robotnik, but Sonic nicknames him as "Eggman". In the movie continuity it's because Eggman uses drones that are shaped like eggs. In the game continuity it's because his body is shaped like an egg. Generally speaking, people tend to use "Robotnik" if they wanna speak to him with respect, whereas they call him "Eggman" if they wanna mock him or are casual with him. I guess kinda like how one would call someone by their last name or their given name.

In the games (in the English version), "Eggman" is first used in Sonic Adventure 1. Specifically by Sonic as an insult, and after that, that's what he was generally referred to as. It was actually officially confirmed that Eggman uses that name as a means to "own" it, despite the fact it was initially used as an insult.

@@IamCanadian3333 actually he was already known as Eggman in Japan. Robotnik was in the west. But now that they are bringing things together they added both Eggman and Robotnik as parts of his name lol Doctor Ivo Eggman Robotnik 😅😅

@@renansantos6533 Yep. Thus why I said "(In the English version)." Fun fact: In Sonic 2, the Wing Fortress Zone actually has "Eggman" written on the massive airship. Which was a clear reference to his (at the time) Japanese name. It's basically like "Peach" vs "Toadstool" for Princess Peach.

That line Sonic says “What did you do?” and Shadow says “What I had to”. If Sonic was really talking to Shadow and that wasn’t just edited like that for the trailer (cause I know these trailers can be deceiving), that sounds like something Sonic would ask him if they were fighting on the same side against Eggman, the Biolizard, Gerald Robotnik, or some other unknown threat and Shadow did something that Sonic wouldn’t think of doing no matter how bad things got.

The "story" behind the name is that it's both names. In Japan they called him Eggman but when they brought it to the West they called him Robotnik. Once they got to the 3D games they resolved the issue by just using both names. (Ivo) Robotnik is his "real" name while Eggman is his "Supervillain" name. You can see both names behind him when he's making his threat to the planet in Sonic Adventure 2 (the game Shadow originally came from) and his Cousin and Grandfather (both of whom are part of the backstory of that game and that you see in this trailer) are Maria Robotnik and Gerald Robotnik.

1:50 Yeah Tails is my favorite too.😂 I wasn’t much of a fan of the series before watching the movies, but Tails (and Knuckles, he’s pretty funny) made me become a fan.

I doubt Shadow will live with Tom and Maddie. He's not a bad guy but he does have different morals than the others. He might just be on his own somewhere else.

Honestly, both Shadow *and Knuckles* should be living on their own. Knuckles, on a live action version of Angel Island, and Shadow…doing whatever. Both of them are loners, but for different reasons.

Shadow the Hedgehog is my top favourite sonic character of all time, I've been playing sonic adventure 2 battle on the GameCube since 2004 and played sonic heroes also and in Christmas 2005 I've played Shadow the Hedgehog on the PS2, That 2005 shadow the Hedgehog game was my most favourite sonic game of all time and that game alone made me a massive shadow the Hedgehog fan, because of his story, motivation and his badassary. I'm so looking forward to seeing sonic the hedgehog 3 and I'm going be wearing full black and red shadow colour scheme on release day.

Calling it now: The last scene is a fakeout, Gerald Robotnik is actually dead, that’s a hologram and the clip is cut the second before Ivo phases through Gerald and realises it’s an illusion.

I'm putting my money on Gerald hiding away after the Maria event and Shadow's capture, cryogenically freezing himself, and waking Shadow so he can escape using dormant code or a backdoor in the prison system after Gerald thawed out.

Except he physically touched him before it cut. I doubt they would try to trick us into thinking Gerald is alive despite being dead in the original story, only to actually have him dead like in the original story. That would be a really dumb fakeout.

Can't wait to see this in December! Iconic DJ Junkie XL did a fantastic job with the score for Sonic 1 & 2, & I can't wait to hear the score for Sonic 3! And, on October 25th (October 22nd if you pre-order the digital DX edition), you can play as Shadow in the game Sonic x Shadow Generations.

I can say without a doubt, I am so hype to watch this movie on my birth month and have so much fun 😄 also the movie crew seem to have some interesting idea to have Keanu Reeves to voice Shadow in this movie. So it seems interesting to state we got two “Cyberpunk 2099” VAs in this movie into one 😅

I actually missed the second movie and unable to access Knuckles spinoff, but I will go and watch it. I’ve noticed a few references from the Shadow the Hedgehog game. This is truly is year of Shadow, first the game, a few advertisements and now the movie.

A inizio anno avevo detto che i tre film che aspettavo di più nel 2024 erano Joker 2, Il Gladiatore 2 e Sonic 3. Dopo che avevo visto la recensione a tema Borderlands film dei Playerinside (ero in modalità "Shhhhh, il profeta parla" de La Rivolta delle Ex memoria) qui su YT avevo detto che se prendi dei buoni sceneggiatori e un buon regista e affianchi loro gli sviluppatori del videogioco che vuoi trasporre allora puoi fare un buon risultato altrimenti segui la scia di molti adattamenti videoludici rivelatisi poi fallimentari. Detto questo buon primo trailer. È andata esattamente come mi aspettavo. La base sarà il videogioco Sonic Adventure 2. Il passato di Shadow verrà accennato (si vedono Shadow e Maria interagire) ma probabilmente la sua storia passata verrà esplorata in un altro prodotto (io ho già detto che farei una serie tv tipo Knuckles basata sul videogioco Shadow The Hedgehog). Buoni effetti speciali. Buone scene d' azione. Buona colonna sonora. Shadow veramente figo. C'è il nonno di Eggman. Torna il dottor Robotnik interpretato da Jim Carrey. C'è Shadow con la moto che fa molto Sonic All-Star Racing. C'è un easter eggs di Shadow sulla moto che è riferito all' anime Akira. Si preannuncia come un buon film d' intrattenimento (insomma, un buon hamburger per utilizzare una metafora culinaria). Sicuramente ne arriveranno altri di trailer. E per fortuna prima dell' arrivo di Sonic 3 ad intrattenermi ci saranno al cinema Mufasa Il Re Leone e A Complete Unknown. Magari qualche personaggio tra Amy, Cream, Vector, Scorpius e Rogue si vedrà già in Sonic 3. Io sono più propenso a credere che al massimo si vedrà Amy. Gli altri, come anche Espio, se li terranno per un eventuale Sonic 4. GexaD l' ha definito "probabilmente il film migliore di questa per il momento trilogia di Sonic". Sembra che che potrebbe esserlo. Ma lo scoprirò dal 1 gennaio 2025. N.B. Ai tempi del teaser di The Last of Us seconda stagione avevo detto che i migliori adattamenti tratti da un videogioco post primo film di Sonic erano The Last of Us serie tv, Fallout serie tv, CyberPunk Edgerunners, i due film Sonic, Super Mario Bros il film, Tetris, Arcane serie tv, Resident Evil Infinite Darkness e Resident Evil Death Island. Sonic 3 è la conferma e mi auguro che Minecraft film live action segua l' esempio del franchise Sonic cinematografico. Sicuramente la lista si amplierà visto che quella dei film/serie tv tratti dai videogiochi è una branca che sta arrivando. Ma se ne parlerà in futuro.

@@entertainmentguru817if he kills someone in this then it would go against his story imo. Shadow isn't a villain but moreso an antagonist who does a heel face turn. Shadow killing Tom would completely ruin it and any sort of redemption would feel off plus I don't think Sonic let's Shadow go after that and if this movie heavily draws from Sonic Adventure 2 then it wouldn't really make sense

Had no idea that your a Sonic Fan! If you play the game Sonic Adventures 2: Battle, Sonic and Shadow first met and battle against each other! The reason is because the movie is going to have references from the game!
