Just to respond to a couple of points in the video, absolutely agreed, I don't understand how someone could deny the beauty in music like Farewell. Even if you have a bias against Metal, or aren't used to Metal, I find it impossible to miss the emotion and, I suppose I'd say majesty, of a section like the bridge here. Even when it comes to harsh vocals, I find that the more I've delved into Metal, a lot of the most emotional vocals I hear are screams or growls done right, and/or in the right contexts. It depends of course, there are plenty of non-emotional harsh vocals, or emotional clean vocals, but the reverse can be said for both, and the instrumental they're being performed over can make a big difference too. Shadow of Intent are one of the best bands when it comes to blending the beautiful, and filthy sides of Metal. I also love how cinematic this particular song was, one of their most richly detailed pieces in some time, and one of the most layered on the album.

So god damn true... everytime I get to that third verse it's so damn emotional, just look at these lyrics: "For you, I die, You'll find me in the afterlife, Live out your days with grief out of sight, I am sorry that you'll never find my body to say your goodbyes." I get really annoyed when someone just ignores the emotion in this genre just because "It's not music, it's just noise." I also didn't like growling and screaming in metal music when I was young, but now that I've listened to a good amount of deathcore I pick up those subtle hints of emotion and it makes me appreciate the genre even more, and Shadow of Intent most of all.

Metal is beautiful and has so many feelings and emotion. Why people say it’s just screaming, is insane to me. I’ll listen to metal over “pop” music any day! Nice choice Evan 👍

Welcome to the magnificence that is Shadow of Intent. I also highly recommend their last album, Melancholy, and while they're very different, their first two albums, Primordial, and Reclaimer, are also beastly.

I try to give even the songs with screaming vocals a listen, because you never know…I actually thought most of the song was pretty monumental, like a movie score, and glad I gave it a chance!

Their music varies a lot in style, but in general it is top notch as far as extreme music goes, or what many would probably call extreme, anyway. This song is a good example of what they're like at their best. Highly recommend checking out more, especially from Shadow of Intent's latest two albums, if you enjoyed this one.

I don't mean this to sound like a weird brag, or just to sound weird in general, and it depends on the song, but I don't often think of bands like Shadow of Intent, or other bands I often listen to, like Orbit Culture, as "extreme". Maybe I'm just so used to heavy music that my bar is way higher, or I process music in a way where it takes a certain kind of heavy, I don't know. I think it's a mix of factors, but largely experience. If you'd asked me a few years back I might've called an album like Elegy extreme. Anyway, I don't have any issue with them being called extreme, and I do understand that they are still really heavy, whether or not they're extreme, just kinda felt like sharing this somewhere. Not sure how many would relate to my stance here or not, or if it's constructive, but here it is. Quick side note, I will mention at least one song I'd still probably consider extreme from SOI, The Catacombs. Sometimes they go extra dirty, and that's a good example.

a lot of the songs from this album actually relate to/were inspired by the Ukraine conflict (ie. from ruin we rise). Beautiful rally music imo.

Intensified Genocide was inspired by Holodomor (great famine) in Ukraine which happened in 1932-1933.

@@jackvermont88 No it was inspired by the Georgian civil war. Only from ruin we rise and of fury were related to Ukraine
