@danielnelson48814 жыл бұрын
@@x0scimy0x Definitely. When they do appear in a song they're badass and help keep things fresh a bit. Like on Reclaimer in the song "The Prophets Beckoning" it made the song stand out from the rest, one of my favorites on the album.. If he did it on every song though? It just wouldn't be special anymore. It wouldn't be a breath of fresh air from the unrelenting, brutal, aural assault that is deathcore.. It would just be Shadow of Intents "thing" they did in every song. One of the things that got me really into this band when I heard reclaimer was all of the different ways they kind of broke the monotony. I love deathcore just as much as the next guy but when there isn't anything special throughout the songs in an album it loses my interest quick... Like I could never get into Thy Art is Murder because Reign of Darkness was awesome and Shadow of Eternal Sin was badass... And after that I couldn't listen to the same deathcore song 10 or however many other times to make a complete album. When familiarizing yourself with an album there has to be multiple songs with parts in them that stick out to you, make you think siiiiick. It's the one thing that deathcore bands are dreadful at in my opinion unless they have Jason Richardson on guitar creating memorable parts via guitar solos and riffs. You gotta want to go back and listen to "that one song with the dope melodic part" or "that song Dickie from Infant Annihilator did guest vocals on." Without those awesome parts that set songs apart it's too fucking mind numbingly boring listening to an album enough to get familiarized and learn all of the intricacies that make the band/album badass. Deathcore bands suck at this. Shadow of intent has been a breath of fresh air in that sense as well. Loving this band. Sorry for the rant.

They mix so many different sounds together. You got their deathcore root, with some blackened atmospheric vibes and vocals, you got that melodic guitar, and that symphonic touch overlapping some speedy trashy guitars, and some good ol blast beats. SOI never follows the pattern of a singular genre. Sure they are deathcore. But they don't rely on down tuning and breakdowns to carry them through 10 seconds of Fame. They are masters of writing beautifully heavy music. Ben is an absolute beast, but without the band, they wouldn't be so next level. And the best part is? One song may be amazing, but will always be 10x better as a whole album. So move over all you "listen to this song cause it has ONE good element like a breakdown" bands, and let SOI get all the blackened spotlight. When you can write as masterfully as this, then come talk.

Nik's review of the new IA song was so disappointing. He didn't do any research about the band before releasing the video and made it very obvious that he isn't even a true IA fan. I was actually pretty pissed and may not watch his reviews anymore knowing he puts no effort into them. Just out for views.
@unr3quited5 жыл бұрын
@@jeffbell4434 just because hes not a fan of IA doesnt mean you should unsub, I personally didnt enjoy the new song, but that's bc I've kinda grown out of IA I guess, theres a lot better bands who play a lot more technical stuff that can actually play live like Archspire for example
@jeffbell44345 жыл бұрын
@@unr3quited oh no bro don't worry I didn't unsub lol I still love nik's videos! And I will continue to watch them for sure. I was just kinda suprised by his lack of research prior to releasing a video but really i mean there are much worse things happening in the world. I'm over it now lol

As always great musical work but I think the video is too dark (not in the poetical way) that is almost immposible to see what they are doing. And as a new song it sounds amazing, the double bass at the beggining rock on

My man I haven't been able to get into deathcore for what feels like a long time now... Since the days where "Awaken the Dreamers" by All Shall Perish was still fresh.. The days when Born of Osiris' "The New Reign" was a steady jam and then we forgot about a higher place and considered "The Discovery" to be their next absolute masterpiece. When After the Burial was still big.. And "A New Era Of Corruption" just came out and we still thought Whitechapel couldn't write a bad album. Or when "ID" was a banging follow up to "The Common Man's Collapse" you know? When it wasn't safe to swim today! Ever since then everything has just been so mediocre... Whitechapel CAN apparently come out with a bad album. Eddy Hermida can ruin two bands quicker than he made All Shall Perish good, we weren't only mourning mitch lucker I tell ya... I know what it's like now to want to slap every member in Born of Osiris in the fucking face repeatedly for letting Jason Richardson go. I've felt the disappointment of trying to listen to Aristeia play anything they wrote live. I've been conned into pre-ordering an album too early just like EA does to gamers when Rings of Saturn put out the Dingir album teaser and I thought it was Jesus' second coming. Only to be let down by the fact that the teaser was better than the actual album. I've gone through some SHIT to get here... And Shadow of Intent is making it all worth it. Look away if you don't wanna see a grown man cry!

@@danielnelson4881 wow im sorry thats the way you think of deathcore now but it sounds like youre just stuck on hoping old bands can continue to release good music like they once did instead of searching for the new. Whitechapels "the valley" was actually a really good album, though admittedly not their best. If youre looking for some of the better deathcore in the modern day then 2019 is a great place to start. Fit For An Autopsy released "The Sea Of Tragic Beasts", Shrine Of Malice released "Sheol", A blackened deathcore album that was my personal favourite of 2019 along with Shadow of Intents "Melancholy". There was also Angelmakers self titled album, Enterprise Earth with "Luficerous", Infant Annihilator released "The Battle of Yaldabaoth", Signs Of The Swarm with their slam influenced "Vital Deprivation" and more recently Lorna Shore releasing "Immortal". These are all some incredible albums and id recommend backtracking through each of these bands discographies because they are definitely the frontrunners of the deathcore scene in my eyes
