@@jelly442 while SoW may be technically more advanced with better textures and more realistic lighting it has a different 'feel'. Mordor has a darker tone with an overall darker aesthetic. Shadow of war moved to a brighter setting which kinda changed the feel of the game imo. Shadow of war is still my favorite overall but i still prefer the aesthetic of mordor.

I find SOM very enjoyable for the level of detail in the graphics. It pulls me into the game more. SOW is great but I find I get bored more quickly because there is less interesting details to focus on. SOW is more cinematic story wise which is interesting, but visually I am simply more engaged with SOM . There is some great Orc variety in SOW and the combat variety is great. Just play both games and enjoy them seperatly. But no comparison on landscapes and water / metal / lighting effects. SOM wins hands down. Very solid and textured in a video game kind of way. SOW is more film like and story driven with more variety in charecters. Great games.

It's a lot of small differences and nuances. You might not notice if you don't spend many days really getting into everything the games have to offer.

Shadow of Mordor first. It's a fun game and when you play Shadow of War you can use something called the Nemesis Forge in SoM to transfer two Orcs (one Nemesis who you've struggled against and one Follower who has served you well) over to SoW.

Yes to the point the devs need to tone down the graphics and remove some feature (Grunt killing a capt get promoted) kinda wish when you send a spy in a fort there will be undercover grunts roaming around the fort so if things get out of hands you can activate them and they help you get out or fight the grunts surrounding you

i personally really enjoyed the first game. you could probably skip it by watching "all of the cutscenes" video on youtube. there are a couple of things that dont exactly make sense in transition between the games, but just overlook them, its not important. the second game is basically better in all aspects, so have fun! if you do play the first game and gain some attachment and create of "stories" for yourself, you do get to bring your most loyal follower from the first game (influenced by being the follower you interacted with the most) to the second game, and you get to face off against your nemesis (the guy you never recruited but had the most interaction with or died to the most times) from the first game in the second one.

Animations in the second game look goofy. The protagonist model is terrible. This takes me away from the game a lot. There's nothing more immersion breaking than an orc doing a sassy walk before attacking with the most stiff attack animation ever made. Or your character throwing blows that don't really connect with the enemy because the animation gets abruptly cut before it hits. Everything else is good, but man is hard for me to enjoy it with these flaws surrounding the gameplay all the time.

I think I had more fun playing Mordor than I did with War. That's mostly because Mordor was a great game when it came out and set high expectations for War for me. I think that if you like one game, you're going to like the other, so if you want to experience as much as you can, you might as well pick up the first game on sale (I feel like I often see it for $5-$10, depending on platform). That said, everything you can do in the first game is pretty much possible in the second game, you're really only missing the narrative (which I think is pretty good). That narrative isn't really necessary for playing the second game outside of the recap that the second game gives you within a minute or two of playing.

SOM’s domination of orcs is far superior and the lighting and sounds during it and combat are amazing. It’s such a shame they didn’t carry that over to the second game. SOW has more content for sure, but SOM is superior in essentially everything pertaining to style.

I loved playing the Middle Earth games and they are fun and awesome games 🙂. I enjoyed playing Middle Earth Shadow Of Mordor on Xbox One . Shadow of War was fun also but i liked Shadow of Mordor more because of the dark revenge story , Design of the Orcs and The Nemesis system and the detailed environment . Talion looked better in Shadow of Mordor and how you spread fear among the Orcs and especially when they mention The Gravewalker . The combat is so badass and fluid like in the Batman Arkham games and killing Orcs and Orc Captains is satisfying and you feel like a badass 🙂

SOM got boring fast unfortunately for me, SOW is a game I go back to multiple times, different armour to collect, sieges, deeper nemesis system, more orcs/uruk variation, more skills to grind for. There's just something about the first game that felt better. Don't get me wrong, I love the second game and all it has to offer, but the texture of everything in the first game had a darker, more original feel. For example, look at the skin texture of the Urûks in the first game compared to the second game. They seem too "clean" in my opinion in the second game. Another thing that affected the game's feel was the weather. Is it just me, or does it seem like it's too sunny in Mordor? The first game had a lot more rain and smoke, which gave a more melancholy-like vibe, which I think the second game lacks. Also, you felt more alone in the first game, which really emphasizes the plot. I personally think that you have too many friends and allies (excluding your brainwashed orcs... and Ratbag) in the second game. However, both are among my favorite games of all time!

The thing i hate about SOW is that it's that they dindt work together in the Talion desing at all. You can see 4 diferen talions between Both games. The Talion un the first Game looked great to me, then it comes the one un the intro Scene of SOW which was cool. We also have the in-game SOW Talion whit His square jaw and sad eyes, not Bad but totally diferent. And we also have the horrible last cutscene Talion that doesnt resemble any of them besides maybe the SOW intro one.

While it seems that SoM is better graphically, I think SoW fleshes out the Nemesis system the most out of the two games. I also play this game primarily for the nemesis system--but I think you're less OP in SoM which I found to be a very compelling gameplay because you really have to investigate and plan your fights. SoW still has that but practically vanishes by mid/late game.

In SOW, building the army, raid strongholds and leveling up orcs is all that catches my interest. During a raid for example, I spend most of the time supervising the attack. SOW also offers a plethora of orcs captains but most of them is a variant of each others making only a handful of them being truly unique. The nemesis system although being super advanced sometimes makes the game a parody, having an orc or 2 come back after a few decapitations is okay, but having more than 5 different captains with that "ability" is more annoying than impressive. SOM, is the best when it comes to raw combat, but the world feels so empty which is understandable when compared to SOW.

I played the crap out of SOM, finished the main story, dominated Saurons army in both regions. Then moved on to SOW. I couldnt get into it. So i went back to SOM. In SOM my first real encounter was getting swarmed, and overcoming it, as soon as i felt like i was winning a captian would join, then another and another until 4 captians and their armied were on me. Of course they won, i had no idea how to heal. All i knew was eventually i died there on the black road, and i was almost grateful for it. Im an hour and a half in on SOM and have yet to experience that level of ferocity, no swarming, captians are dead easy to defeat. Its almost a spoon fed experience so far.

Shadow of Mordor still is one of the most gorgeous games out there. Especially if you play on PS4 Pro or PS5 which is native 4k, or on a PC which can handle that level of detail obviously. It's an overall much more immersive experience that really sucks you into the world of mordor. Shadow of war is extremely flat and lifeless feeling

Thing like the cool depth of field during executions are gone in war… The world in Mordor is much more muddy, grim and dark compare to war.. Yes, the orc are much better in War.. The in general, Mordor is the superior game.. I can’t wait to see what they do with Shadow of Middle Earth, or whatever the title will be 🙂

Compared to shadow of mordor, shadow of war is an absolute eyesore. It basically looks like an orc sharted all over your screen

@@bdre5555 shadow of mordor was a favorite of mine, I could play it for hours on end without getting bored because the basics of the combat were that addicting and the world was beautiful and mysterious. Then shadow of war threw that all that all away, it looked soulless, the mystery and ominous nature of everything was gone tge combat and orcs felt hollow and not in a good way. It's like I went from playing a lord of the rings game to an impassionate generic "action rpg"

@@kingofthefleetians impeccably stated! Shadow of War has lost almost all of the soul of shadow of mordor. It has none of the magic of that game. I know it's much bigger, but there's just way too much fluff and mechanics, and it forgets about all the atmosphere and Aesthetics that made Mordor a joy to lose yourself in. I remember starting the game in mordor, and Shadow of mordor. And you just feel like you are there, it's just oozing atmosphere. And the Nemesis system was there just enough to feel like a compliment. Or as a shadow of War it completely drowns you and is not fun.

Like the aesthetic of shadow of war but I get bored fast with it compared to shadow of war because SoW is just fleshed out to make powerful armies the way you want you can also make talion look the way you want there’s just so much customization that blows shadow of Mordor out of the water only thing shadow of war has going for it is the dark aesthetic tone.. also way more upgrades and the fight pits are awesome shadow of Mordor there really isn’t much their besides keep killing uruks an the enemy variety gets pretty stale too compared to shadow of war with Ologs, caragors, drakes and more different enemies etc. overall I’d say shadow of war is the better game should seem like a no brainer

Wait do sow have more orcs on screen than som ?? That could be a reason for some graphics decline .. too much going on screen possibly ... But both are Amazing tho but Sow got it for me with way more to do and customize.

Algo que no entiendo es por que este juego "shadow of War" , tambien el "Mordor" o el "Need for Speed del 2015 el que es siempre de noche" el "Batman Arkham Knight" el "Anthem" y varios mas se ven espectacular en ps4 ps4 pro y ps5 pero en series X se ven como un juego de Ps3 o de xbox360.... que es lo que pasa????? son juegos que en Play Station fueron remasterizados y los de xbox quedaron con la grafica de salida????? la verdad que no lo se,,, son juego que me conozco sus graficos a la perfeccion, ya que soy fanatico, los jugue en un tv sony full hd de hace 7 años y ahora los juego en una tv que incluso tiene hdmi 2.1 (osea pude comprobar en distintos teles con tecnologia mas viejita y una actual) y el resultado siempre el mismo... no pasa por la tele..... y es tremendo la diferencia grafica,,,,,, si alguien sabe por que la diferencia agradezco la respuesta! saluuuudos!!!
