In this episode we take a look at some facts, secrets, and history of Shadow of the Colossus. Shadow of the Colossus is an adventure game developed by Team Ico and published by Sony for the PlayStation 2. The game had a different name in Japan, and was titled 'Wander and the Colossus'. An HD remastered version featuring both Ico and Shadow of the Colossus released on the PlayStation 3 in September 2011. The game is often regarded as an important example of video game as art due to its moral implications and minimalist style. Shadow of the Colossus has sold around 2.5 million copies across all of its releases.

I'm really sad the dev team didn't put the Spider Colossus in the PS4 remake. Would have been a nice surprise as a post game enemy when people are wandering around looking to do time trials.

Roc was too aesthetically similar to Avion and mechanically similar to Phalanx. It would have been a redundant colossus. The spider would have been something different and creepy. Even Phoenix would have been pretty badass.

I must admit if only one colossus could be added back in the game out of the 8 that were cut, the Spider Colossus is the one I'd most want. It just seems like a lot of fun riding around on Agro while swinging your sword to hit the legs of the spider & make it fall. We really needed at least one or two more colossi that required Agro during battle. Let's keep our fingers crossed that Bluepoint Games will release an expanded version of the game in 2025 to celebrate the 20th anniversary.

I knew & I remember seeing the trailer in the theater & there was one very quick shot of Avion (the bird colossus). I knew instantly what I had just seen & I might have been the only one in the theater that knew. As it turns out the game not only plays an important part in the story, but references to the game are made throughout the movie. Colossus 1, 5, 13, 15, all get some screen time as does the World Map. Even some of Kow Otani's great score for the game can be heard in a few scenes.

Before you hate me, i like jacksepticeye and his content. The reason (i think) people are hating on jack (which they shouldn't) is because of his fans. The majority of his fans are kind of cringy in the way that they exaggerate his memes (things like "Screw billy"). people just get easily offended when someone trys to share somethign they are interested in. think of your favorite popular media, maybe its starwars, or some horror movie, that just blew your mind away after you watched it. now you then talk to a friend who said they never saw the movie, just didn't bother. would you just sit idly by and say 'oh, ok, that thing was the most amazing piece of media i have ever seen in my life but because you don't feel like watching it, i won't even suggest it'. or would you try and get them to watch that movie? the same thing goes with undertale. alot of people fell in love with the game. its whitty, its got a fantastic soundtrack. funny likable characters. and a fairly interesting narrative. so people who were huge fans when this came out spread the news like wildfire. then some salty sallys got all offended or some shit and started hating on the (albeit overly aggressive) community. see, the universe is full of balances. no one thing can be liked by all. and when people get easily annoyed because of someone suggesting they do or see or play something, they shut down and don't even try. they just flip the bird and walk away. it's no one persons fault either. undertale was all you could hear about for months. and people who were on the fence leaning towards not caring were instantly pushed over into a pit of pure hatred. too much of any good thing is still too much. also, jse fan here. watch both his vids every day. i don't considder myself cringy and i take offense to that. i'm a 21 year old software engineer with a ba in computer sciences and being called cringy is beneath me XD so maybe next time be a bit less judgemental and fanist (yes i just made that up, its like racism but with fandoms) immagine if you replaced 'his fans' with 'black people' you just said 'but black people are cringey'. so shtap being fanist :P

Chaotic Rax To be honest, you could give that description to pretty much any 'big' game. The fan base of FF VII and Dark Souls are guilty of doing the same things off the top of my head. I personally adore Undertale as a game and if people want to get carried away with it then they're free too, it's not really going to change the fact that I had a lot of fun with the game. I think it's a little unfair to judge the game by it's extreme fans but you're entitled to feel how you do towards it lol.

SotC is actually speculated to be a prequel to Ico. The reborn Wander in the forbidden garden bears the same horns of the sacrificed children in Ico, and is probably the progenitor of their line. Essentially, due to Wander's sin, he cursed his future generations to bear the mark of shame which leads to the events of Ico.

I think the majority of fans of the game would like to fight the Spider Colossus. Perhaps in 2025 we might get the chance. There are 2 fan made PC projects in the works involving the cut colossi. But more importantly the 20th anniversary of the game is in 2025. With a little luck perhaps Bluepoint Games will release a Definitive Edition of the game to celebrate the occasion. Thing is though, if you go to Jack's more serious videos such as some of his vlogs, he's very nice and sincere. And, not only kids watch him, but adults too. Actually, I'm not sure that the two split voices of Dormin is meant to make it seem genderless. I think it's moreso an allusion to Babylon. (as well as everything else is in the game) Dormin is simply a reverse of "Nimrod", the Leader who, in the Bible, rebeled against god and built the Tower of Babel. The game has a theme of climbing large stone structures, usurping a legalistic religion to obtain the powers of god to fulfill Your Own desires and being corrupted in the process... And by the endgame, you are betrayed and cut off, then you get a chance to begin again. Is it good, is it bad? You get to decide for yourself. I probably read way to much into it, but hey, that's why I love this game so much. There's a lot to appreciate.

As a side note, the name Colossus probably originates from the Colossus of Rhodes, and Wonder of the Ancient World originating in ancient Rome. It was a statue of Emperor Nero, the emperor in charge at the time. As the name now implies, it was freaking huge.

**Keep in mind that this isn't the only cause as people have different thoughts and opinions.** People tend to find content lacking when it's presented in the same way as something they've seen before. Such as the usual youtuber is: 1. Loud, 2. way too energic about useless shit, 3. crying over everything if it's supposed to be a sad moment and 4. They didn't mention what the alternate ending WAS. Wander would have lived but he would've been trapped in the lost land with the girl, and corrupted. It would've been his "punishment" but he still would've had his happy ending. Ueda said in like, a 2012 or so interview that he regretted not doing that.

The alternate skin for Agro isn't the only "ICO" reference. Let's not forget about the Queen's Sword. And if you're playing the PS4 remake, there's also the watermelon at the far end of the beach. If we're really lucky we'll get a Definitive Edition of the game in 2025 to celebrate the 20th anniversary. This could be an expanded version of the PS4 remake or maybe another remaster of the PS2 version with added content. We're almost certain to get something to celebrate the occasion. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
